Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

I'm not a fan of that steering wheel, as I had a test drive of a Cayman with on and found it completely unnatural to use (Just to clarify the unnatural feeling, its due gear selection) . I'd recommend the sports design steering wheel, if that's a available option.

Colour wise, I quiet like ether Sapphire Blue Metallic, Carbon Grey Metallic or don't laugh the Mahogany Metallic.

Edit. On another note, I see Porsche have updated the car build part of the website.

I was a bit worried about that, I thought the black and cream combo may overcome that but you may be right its going to clash.

I love the cream interior but something different to the boring black would be nice also.

The interior looks ace, I personally would go darker on the exterior. I like the carbon grey and the dark blue and if I was feeling bold the sapphire blue would look ace with the hybrid's brakes and the the green backed badges.

Thanks guys, I am going to look at some of the colours in real life this weekend.

Re the 996, to be quite honest if spending over £15k on the car is a struggle you have to think if you can really afford to run a 911.A £1k bill here and a £1k bill there is quite normal.

Unfortunately I was second in line - and unsurprisingly the first guy bought it. ..

Shame with cars that are such as bargain as that you just ring straight away and pretty much buy it and then go and collect it. That was a real bargain!

Was no different then when I bought my Mustang, the guy sold it 10k below going rate as he wanted quick sale due to wife wanting it gone, gotta be quick man.

Yep agreed - will keep eyes peeled for more xmas bargains.

Do you not feel suspicious when cars are overly cheap?

Yes but at the same time I call up immediately and get my name down first and then travel up to view. I can still walk away!

People with plenty of money often give a car away for a quick hassle free sale, just be ready to pounce.

I paid top dollar for mine but was happy to it has a great spec and in very rare colour but also absolute perfect condition. I find you have three types of car buyer, bargain hunter which this was, person buying on age, spec, mileage at market price and then customer who knows exactly what they want and will pay to get it.

Agreed- am reading the Hartech buyers guide now so next time I am ready to pounce on a good buy.

Any thought on cabriolets? Are they flexy? Can you get Dectane rear lights for them? (Are yours OEM or Dectane?)

My are Dectanes on rear. Front standard.

With a Porsche you just need a 111 point inspection and boroscope inspection.

Picked up my first Porsche yesterday, only a 987 Boxster, not too exciting by the standards of this thread but I love it :-D :-D

The only downside is me kicking myself for driving around in a family hatchback for the last 3 years. Why did I leave it so long.

You're going to love the Boxster, its a epic little car.

I had the finial invoice for mine today (:() and had to bring my deposit up to 10% which is always helpful before Christmas.

69 days to go till I collect the car. :D:cool:

Who decided to make the 997 2S narrow body? :( I want a wide body car but not overly keen on AWD...

I believe the GTS is available in the wide body, thats if you are buying new. However, other that that its a AWD car or a GT car to get the wide body.

Having had both a wide body and a narrow body I personally like the narrow body more.

I finally decided on a colour for the car and went with Metallic black and added a few more extras.
