Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

Think I may go to a Porsche dealership in the near future.

Have always admired their cars from afar / never sat in one... Think I need to see what all the fuss is about!

Interesting vid.

If you can, i'd really recommend the Porsche Silverstone experance day. Its well worth the money and its real one 2 one training as well depending on what you choose.

Gotta drive one and ideally for a few hours, then you should understand it. ;)

Is it worth detailing a new car?

Yeah the paint can be really bad even on new cars, normally because some boy with a bucket and a sponge which washed 30 previous cars and the sponge was dropped several times then comes to your car. ;)

I'll will look into the local detailers in my area. What's a rough cost ~ £300.00?

If you tell Porsche that you want the paint unmarked and as such inform them not to wash it, they will either comply and not wash your car or they will have it professionally detailed for you.

I recommend when you collect it, you study the paintwork in detail, if it is marked, complain and then Porsche will pay to the have the paint corrected. :)

Understood, I will inform the dealer. :D

I had my 6 Series done and requested it not be touched by the dealer. All they did was remove the protective coverings inside and out. Wasn't nice picking up a new car that was dirty but was worth it once the detailer had had his way with it, came up amazingly well. So yes its worth it, and get it booked in as soon after collection as you can.

Where are you in the country as can highly recommend the chap who did mine?

The chap I used is over near Aylsebury, don't know if you'd consider that too far, if not let me know and I'll ping you the details.

That's a bit too far for me, thanks anyway. I will have a look for some local people. How long does it take on average? A whole day?

Yeah whole day, possibly even 2 depending on what you need doing. As mine was in good condtion as it hadn't been touched by the "delicate" hand of the dealer it took him a day to clean, cleanse, clay, polish, protect and wax inside and out.
