Possible New Newcastle Boss!

you gotta give glen credit for what hes done, i think they said on motd hes won 8 or 10 games out of 14, a mean thats dam good going tbh considering what hes had to work with, and hes really got the team playing as a team for once instead of 11 individuals.

i think we were really unlucky against chelsea in the cup, and ok we've not exactly had the hardest run of games whilst hes been in charge, but if you can't dot eh buisness against the teams around you then your done for!

look at charlton for example, haven't been able to beat any time near them for ages and there way down the league as apposed to at the top near the start of the season.

I think we've got a real chance of UEfa place and if we do get it it'll be one of the best turn arounds for a club this season in my books.

oh and you need a striker as well, as Ameobi is ok but he is nowhere near good enough IMO to lead the line of a club with top 8 ambitions.

To be fair, I've got a feeling Owen might lead the line next season. I think we will sign a partner for Owen as well so Ameobi will be relegated back to the bench.

Tonights Ronnie Hill carrying this story.
Whatever happens, Roeder will be in charge at St James' Park, no matter what title he carries.

He will have Alan Shearer back at his side after the legendary striker takes a season off to do some TV commentating and some ambassadorial work with Umbro, as well as spending more time with his family.
In the meantime, Roeder will have to decide who he also wants alongside him, with people in the game saying in Tommy Craig United have one of the best coaches in football. Roeder himself is a coach, but if he wants a bit of help from Craig this would open the door for Lee Clark to take over the United Reserve team.

I cant sum it up any better than the ever brilliant nufc.com
So there you go, all sewn up. Easy as that. Regardless of whatever tinpot rules stand in our way, Glenn Roeder will be in charge. And he'll be there until at least 2007 - even if next season is a total disaster.

All bets are off then - with the guaranteed return of Shearer to the club meaning nobody else credible other than Roeder would want the job on those terms.

Just as I and no doubt many others always though - what an absolute joke.
How the hell can you run a club with these kind of barmy restrictions in place

i agree with a lot of whats been said, mainly that if it was for Given we would be extremely low! We've done well since Glenn took over and could finish top 6 if we battle!

I think its more than likely that micheal owen will not be at St james park next season no matter what fat freddy says.

The squad is woefully thin and inadequate.
We need a new number 9 as well as two fullbacks and a centre half as a priority.
We have little to spend and it looks like Luque and Boumsong will leave for a fraction of the £18.5m we paid for them - the saving on Shearers monsterous wages being one of our only saving graces.

Owen is not only our singular most saleable asset , he could also be the difference between finishing 8th and 4th.

Its a big decision.

dear me, newcastle really are wobbling on the edge of a cliff here. can the club afford another bad manager? not to mention the poor quality of the squad for next season.

i dont think roeder is the man, hes done good as caretaker but thats a completely different thing to rebuilding a club. also though i think it will be a long time before newcastle do as well in the league as they did with sir bobby.

Exactly , very little pressure on him this season - all he had to do was finish 15th.
The real deal will be far different.

Aye , wait until we get a good squad of players together and are playing attractive football.
They'll be dead easy to get then.

why shouldnt I wait until they dish up some decent football to watch? I wouldnt pay to watch a series of films at the cinema I knew were crap so why should football be otherwise?

Besides I am in the lucky position where I can get tickets for any game I want anyway as long as I give enough notice. Was just thinking of getting a season ticket so me and all my mates can sit together.

Does it have to be a big name to come to Newcastle ?

We have had them, managers who have won honours with other clubs in a managerial capacity. Gullit, Dalglish, Sir Bobby, Souness. They have won elsewhere but Newcastle have not won so much as a pot to sqiizz in since 1969.

I personally would like to see Martin 'O Neill come in as manager but I don't think it will happen. If Roeder is offered the job then so be it. I will back him. He has been an excellent servant for the club and I first saw him as a player there in th 1980's when I first started going to matches.

He may just be the non-big name capable of pulling a flanker that we need.
