Possible New Newcastle Boss!

yep! also whats shearer doing as a football ambassador thing, he should have had a good break from the club and gone to learn management elsewhere. rather than floating about.

!

Nah Freddie usually sacks them after about 4 games of the season or in February so the new guy cant buy any players!

Good luck to Glen and from the sounds of it he's gonna need it! With the donkeys we've got in defence and not a pot to **** in money wise for new players I cant see him managing much better than this season.

As mentioned previously thats exactly why no 'big name' manager will even look at the Newcastle job. :)

Basically he's there to be wheeled out when we want to sign a big player. No-one is going to be enthrawled at the opportunity to play for Roeder so we bring in Shearer to persuade the player to join. It's what we did to get Owen.

Personally I think that Shearer/Roeder has worked well so far. After all it was Roeder who gave him an official coaching role this year. Why can't it continue?

so why did he give it to Roeder then.

:p
The reason I would like to believe is that he sees Glenn as a firm foundation for the club to get some badly needed stability.
Build up a coaching staff , academy , scouting network and a definitive plan for future progress.

I could also believe that he did it because he is sick of big names and sick of foriegners and that he believes that Roeder , being an ex captain of the club , knows what the people are all about and can build up a rapport with the fans to rival the Keegan era.

Sadly none of the above are true , the club is skint after splashing out on poor managerial appointments and inopportune sackings.
Couple this with millions spunked away on rubbish players and theres a real problem there.

Its a weak and easy way out for the chairman and his juvenile insistance on having Alan Shearer some day in charge is not only clouding his judgement it is putting the whole club in jeopardy.

Thats why no proven manager will work with us.

Roeder has been given a 2 year contract.
Guess who will have his full coaching badges in 2 years time?
Want me to run around with one hand in the air to give you a clue?

I really want Newcastle and Roeder to suceed more than anything else I could wish for - its about the only thing missing from my life.

But if this is another failure and we are at the bottom end of the table in feburary then it will be Shepherds resignation the faithful will be calling for , not Roeders.

roeder is a very big name - HAHAHAHA

look I admit he's done a good job so far, but lets look at his record:
Gillingham - finished second from bottom
Watford - struggled near bottom, got sacked
West Ham - was crap, got sacked

Souness' record is great compared to this guy

He guided West Ham to their highest ever premier league finish in his first season. Granted he guided them to relegation the next season but he was hampered by injuries and having his best players sold from under him.

I'm not exactly over the moon with his full-time appointment but the job he has done so far can't be argued with, he's had not far off half a season in charge, 15 premiership games, and we won 10 of them, that's more than just a good run of form. We've also played some of the best football I've seen from a United side since we finished 3rd.

I'm concerned by his past record, but there are signs in his past (and certainly in his management since Souness was sacked) that he can do a very good job for us.

Exactly, it's strange how everyone is a fan of Pardew despite Roeder being the more succesful manager at the club (reaching finals means nothing Mr Pardew ;) )

I'm totally for Roeder as manager now, I honestly think it's extremely difficult to say who is a good manager and who isn't. There are too many variables that are never the same e.g. transfer funds, injuries, size of club etc.

Good Luck Glenn.
