@ Avenged7Fold

AMD have lost market share because they haven't launched anything new in bloomin ages :D

They need new to launch new products to sell them.

Even if Fiji is a monster AMD have a lot of work to do just to regain the market share they have lost. Every day they don't announce anything is another day Nvidia sell more cards..

Boom you're actualy showing how much slower the 290X is relative to the 980ti (which gives those ~28 percentages). You want to show the other way round, how much faster the 980ti is relative to the 290X. That will give you the ~40%

Ah ok, surely it's the same either way right?

Not quite how percentages work:
at 1440p it would be (1/0.72)*100 = 39% faster
still a long way from 66% lol

Ah right I see.

980 Ti is quite frankly a beast, and it's price is pretty good tbh.

AMD really need to act fast, they could have the best product in the world waiting in the wings, but bring it to late and the buyers just aren't gonna be there. I've always said AMD have great vision but end up failing in the execution.. Hurry up AMD !

Cmon AMD release a little info of what's coming otherwise everyone's money will be going on the ti's

I think AMD's plan is to wait until nearly every gamer has an Nvidia card before launching something new themselves. It's frustrating to see tbh.

Having good products is one thing, actually launching them is important as well.

How many people that have already bought a high end Nvidia GPU will be willing to switch to AMD. I know I would and peeps like Kaap etc but I imagine we are the minority.

They are taking to long.

AMD wont leak nada tbh, people that were going to buy the 980ti are going to buy it regardless, those who are waiting for the top end AMD cards will still wait, they have waited long enough and a little while longer wont matter.

Yesterday as the reviews were coming in i thought perhaps NVidia was dealing the knockout blows to AMD and putting the last nails in the coffin, however upon reading lots of articles from review sites stating "Wait for the AMD release" im not so convinced now.

AMD still worries me that they can produce an absolute lemon, one only has to look at Faildozer to see that, however in my mind there is also the thought they could be about to smash Nvidia to bits with the top end Fury card.

Either way im waiting to see what happens, i have the cash to pull the trigger on a 980ti and a Gsync screen right now, but i will wait to see what AMD bring to the table and then decide if i lock myself to AMD or Nvidia for the next few years with a new gpu and monitor :)

This is the most sensible thing to do, Nvidia have already swept up a ton of the impulse buyers with the Titan X and 980 Ti release. Have to wonder how many people will be willing to buy the AMD cards when they finally arrive.

However if your sensible and can wait it's def worth it. Fiji could really surprise us and then the extra few weeks of waiting would have been worth it.

Well that's the thing, even if AMD have a killer GPU. Nvidia need only adjust it's prices to put even more pressure on. AMD have to regain lost market share before gaining any.

With Fiji rumoured to be launching around the same time as Batman Arkham Knight which is another Nvidia sponsored title free with Nvidia's cards. Nvidia know what they are doing. Focus will be on that game and it's possible we could see another Wicther 3 / Project Cars situation where AMD falls behind again despite having decent hardware.

AMD's Fiji needs to be good, it needs to be fast, at least one variant needs to be well priced VS 980 Ti. Most importantly it needs to actually be launched.

2, Different height of the core and memory stacks.

This surprises me, it doesn't allow for both the memory stacks and the core to be in direct contact with the core. It seems to completely negate any advantages of not putting a heat spreader on it.
Also it might make changing out the stock cooler a little more tricky as getting the right amount thermal paste will be crucial.

You are looking at the image wrong. The HBM is in contact with the cooler. This image makes it clearer.

Ah yes you could well be right there.

That would make more sense, I was wondering just how AMD could be that daft. :)

Points 3 and 4 still stand though.

With regard to points 3 and 4 (No PCB cooling / 4GB only).

The cooling will be fine with both AIO and air coolers. There won't be any part of the card that needs cooling without cooling.

HBM1 is 4-Hi HBM1 16Gb (2GB per chip)

So we could be looking at 4 stack of 2GB per chip?

If the cards stack like this below, it actually makes AMD lineup look really strong tbh. If/when they actually arrive.

AMD Fiji 4096 Shaders / 8GB HBM VS Titan X 3072 Cores / 12GB GDDR5
AMD Fiji Cutdown 3560 Shaders / 8GB HBM VS GTX 980 Ti / 6GB GDDR5
AMD 390X Hawaii Updated GCN / 8GB GDDR5 VS GTX 980 4GB GDDR5
AMD 390 Hawaii Updated GCN / 8GB GDDR5 VS GTX 970 3.5GB + 0.5GB GDDR5
AMD 380 Tonga Updated / 4GB GDDR5 VS GTX 960 2GB / 4GB GDDR5

Computex: AMD Fiji aka Fury X slower than GeForce GTX 980 Ti

Computex today was good to us, as Hardwareluxx was able to have a look at the first "Fiji" graphics card from AMD. A partner of AMD allowed us to take a look at the graphics card, including the cooler, which we were able to take off. As if that wasn't enough, some technical specifications were leaked to use. AMD internally calls the card Fury X, yet it remains to be seen if it will hit the market under the name, too.

For all we know this could just be fud to generate more 980 Ti sales in the wake of the Fiji release..

I hope this isn't true as it makes for a very boring year until a die shrink.. Although the flip side is my Titan X is looking like a solid bet right now.

They ain't at computex with these GPU's, AMD put a ban of partners showing the 390X/Fury as AMD have their own event for that in a couple of weeks.

The Leaked pictures show it to have 8+6 pin power connectors.

Andreas Schilling < is this guy for real? if so then its not going to sell for much more than £400

I agree, no way to prove this is legit. Hopefully it's just fud http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=28117677&postcount=5216

It doesn't need to beat the 980 Ti or Titan X.
But if it doesn't, the pricing can't be silly.
Although I don't personally think AMD can price high even if they do reach performance parity, for their support/image this year has been dire.

Certainly won't be the death of AMD.

But AMD are viewed as the value option (Which is probably why every time they've priced pretty high, well, it's not done that well), I don't see why people are getting their panties in a mess over it.

Agreed, with good pricing even if it's not as fast as the 980 Ti / Titan X it could still be a good cheaper option.

I think the reason people are anxious, is because AMD haven't launched anything in ages and they have a record low market share. Most people just wanted AMD to do well, and a Titan X killer would have served as a great flagship for AMD.

A high power using card (700W recommended) PSU according to that article, needing 2 x 8 pins and water cooling but still not as fast as Nvidia's cards is obviously going to make people a lil worried, which is totally reasonable. Hopefully this article is just spin.

AMD Radeon R9 Fury X will be the watercooled, HBM-based flagship card

World exclusive: Up until this point, most people have presumed that AMD would be launching the Radeon R9 390X as its upcoming flagship video card, but we have just had an anonymous source tell us that this is wrong.

Attempting to steer the thread back on topic,

Tweak Town have confirmed that Radeon Fury X and Radeon Fury are the names for the flagship cards. (http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=28117994&postcount=5252)

Also that the Radeon Fury X will be an AIO watercooled card only with no variants being allowed, but the Radeon Fury will have aftermarket coolers.

So,

Radeon Fury X aimed at Nvidia Titan X
Radeon Fury aimed at Nvidia 980 Ti.
390X 8GB aimed at GTX 980 4GB.
etc..
