I have to agree with this. I wouldn't be so forward in calling people cheapskates mind but time and again, I have read that all that matters is price, NVidia are ripping people off, AMD are price to performance king etc but being someone who uses both AMD and NVidia, I feel AMD are generally aimed at the Lidl shoppers and while the cards are good, the overall package does leave question marks on AMDs commitment to its users.

I doubt many high end PC gamers are Lidl's shoppers Gregster. The two things don't go hand in hand tbh.

The 7970 was £420+ at launch, and the 290X. That's hardly a cheapskate product.

Think more Xbox 360 / PS3 in 2015 for the conscientious Lidl shopper. Again nothing wrong with that, some people have less money and it's not something that should be joked about / used as a derogatory term imho.

AMD are certainly seen as the "value brand" though.

Only in regards to high priced Nvidia / Intel products. All high end PC parts aren't something that is considered 'value' by most people. It's a luxury to be able to afford high end PC gaming whichever brand you choose.

Not comfortable with this topic at all lol. I don't think income / status is something to be joked about.

^^ So far it looks like I'll be using TX until 8GB HBM cards arrive, or maybe I'll just skip Fiji and wait until 14nm cards next year. I do really like this TX, I just wish I had the Hybrid version.

August? they having a laugh.

Nvidia's CEO just flat out said that HBM was to expensive (Nvidia's profits must be huge) to put on their GPU's this year and that HBM 2 would bring better pricing.

So 4GB HBM for AMD might be really pricey and they don't want to come straight out with 8GB due to cost, and pricing VS competition.

This is likely why first cards are only 4GB. Availability and cost.

Huang on HBM,

Huang said that for now HBM is too expensive and in limited availability, but "in the next year or so we'll be able to take advantage of that technology." Nvidia's next-generation Pascal GPU will most likely be manufactured on a 16nm FinFET process with up to 32GB of HBM2.

Huang on 980 Ti,

"quiet and cool" with no need for liquid cooling, Huang joked.

Shots fired lol.

Nah I was more annoyed at those who were using the 980ti thread to just bash TX owners, they seemed a little insecure when they have to find any opportunity they can get to criticise purchases other users have made with their own money?

My comment about not buying a Titan branded again doesn't say it all, it's just now I know that in future nVidia won't wait so long between the Titan and the cut down card.

They won't make a huge loss, it's more like £100, not much more than the losses you make after a few month of owning any card bought brand new at launch.

Wouldn't worry, when GTX 980 Ti fever dies down, and peeps realize Nvidia's next high end GPU isn't until next year, desire for Titan X will start up again. Pascal is a long way off and desire for something better will creep in before the end of the year.

Now is the worst time to sell a TX. Just enjoy the extra vram, full GM200 chip. Cooler running card and better colour, once you go black you never go back :p

Yep, they've paid 400 quid for that 40$ of GDDR5 in some cases, so I hope they enjoy it immensely.

Sure we will, some times it's nice to have the best regardless of the cost ;)

You're forgetting that the Ti has to clock higher to nip at the heels of the TX so runs hotter / louder as well. (Water cooling could fix this though).

Read some reports of coil whine as well. So there are some benefits to having the TX. That extra frame buffer is by far the biggest though.

Think we need to see some reviews of decent aib cards soon to get a proper conclusion on the 980ti. The 290x looked like an over hot joke on reference coolong.

Agreed, the EVGA Hybrid 980 Ti is the one to watch out for. Will be faster than Titan X out of the box and run cool and quiet.

Really want to see a review for 980 Ti / Titan X Hybrid's..

Ha ha indeed. It's like a manic depressive's convention in this thread at the moment.

What do you expect, no new GPU's in years. Rumours of flagship coming with 2 x 8 pin and requiring tons of power along with a 4GB framebuffer. I don't think AMD fans are being left with a lot to be happy about.

Enough of promises and maybes, people want to see something tangible, like maybe a new actually decent product.

AMD @ Computex tomorrow let's hope they announce something. Even a paper launch with a fixed date for launch in a few weeks. Won't hold my breath though. They will probably talk about APU's and Zen in like 2 years time lol.

The thing is, AMD have made no promises or maybes. It's all just rumour. It's frustrating when you're excited for news on a new product, but all the chaff has come from click bait sites.

Let's hope for a surprise teaser soon though :)

AMD have leaked teaser pics of the card, and spoken about HBM at length. It's not as if Fiji has been a secret from AMD, and everyone is waiting. They haven't launched anything new in an unusually long time. Which proved to be a big mistake and massive drop in market share.

The time to do something is now, especially with the 980 Ti launch.

No more teasers, new products that perform well is what's needed.

Leaks / Speculation is part of any launch. What's frustrating is AMD's lack of execution.

Oh well, let's see what they do at Computex tomorrow. We should expect them to ignore the 980 Ti launch altogether and talk about APU's and future Zen architecture :p

This thread needs deleting to be fair, it's just full of **** and pointless trolling now.

Welcome to every single rumour thread on OcUK and every other forum on the internetz. All full of ****, made up rubbish, trolling and some massively off topic posts. I am the only one who has posted anything sensible..... :D:p

Lol, fear not if/when AMD eventually launch the cards a more sensible review thread will be put up. This one will get deleted.

All we have is rumours and fud right now, so speculate away..

Is this card even launching anymore?

Maybe AMD is re thinking the whole thing,

Intel have just beaten them in APU along with CPU for a while, Nvidia clearly ahead in graphics market share.

We've already had AMD SSD's and Memory, they have the console wins. Maybe it's time AMD start making other things.. Maybe toasters with the slogan 'runs hotter than the average toaster'. Maybe a line of AMD clothing with 'It's coming' written on it.. Meant in irony obviously because we know it's never coming..

^^ Guys just wait for reviews. Then someone can put a thread with proper info / insight into the cards. Kaap could do an owners thread. Gregster could do a review thread. Sorted.

Right now all we have is speculation. These threads are made for that..

If it WAS supposed to be all APU APU APU then they are scrambling around trying to find something else to talk about right now.

Iris Pro blew that up.

Ha,

AMD Rep 'Here's another mediocre APU, points at 7870K APU'.

AMD Rep 'Well that's all have to show you guys this year'.

'Do you have a response to the Nvidia 980 Ti launch?'.

AMD Rep 'No'.

Nailed it, another successful computex for AMD.

"Around the designated with the codename Fiji GPU are four stacks of video memory, along to this combination are the fastest graphics card in the world - said AMD vice president Matt Skinner a few minutes earlier."

"The two 8-pin connectors allow together with the PCIe slot theoretically a power consumption of up to 375 watts, but AMD's Graphics CEO Joe Macri said Golem.de that Fiji graphics card should not require more energy than the Radeon R9 290X. Thus, should the upcoming models remain at under 300 watts - possibly even significantly."

AMD clearly believe this is faster than the Titan X, unless they are pretending it doesn't exist. Titan X owners prepare to be dethroned (Means me as well :p).
