Nvidia already have their version of this out in the form of the Titan X and 980Ti. This is AMD's response.

I don't know why people are getting that excited about the specs. The 290x out specs the 980 GTX (see below) but we all know that does not translate so well into gaming performance.

Better floating-point performance
5,632 GFLOPS vs 4,616 GFLOPS More than 20% better floating-point performance

Significantly wider memory bus
512 bit vs 256 bit 2x wider memory bus

More shading units
2,816 vs 2,048 768 more shading units

More texture mapping units
176 vs 128 48 more texture mapping units

What you're comparing there is the 290X a near 2 year old design (GCN 1.0) VS Nvidia's latest architecture (Maxwell). It's not just the spec but the architecture used as well, comes with inherent improvements.

I.e new generation Maxwell cores VS GCN 1.0. Even then the near 2 year old 290X does pretty well against the GTX 980 especially at higher res.

So with Fiji and the new architecture not only do you have better spec in every metric (Except volume of memory) but also GCN 1.2 'newer architecture'.

Expect it to be quite a leap. Whether it can beat Titan X we will find out very soon. My money is on 10% - 15% faster than Titan X in all but Gameworks titles.

10-15%?

Was this just crazy hyperbole then?

:p

I cant see it being much faster than the titan x or 980ti. It usnt going to be some massive advancement.

The only interesting thing will be the price.

I don't understand what you mean here? Do you mean that 10% - 15% faster than a Titan X isn't a fast card by your standards?

Well if AMD pull that off I will be very impressed. Looking forward to the E3 reveal, if they deliver in performance I will pick one up.

If AMD don't deliver, I've already got a Titan X :D:p

Just noticed something else -

Why is the TX scoring less than a 980 Ti in some of the tests lol.

Newer drivers when Ti was tested? Better cooling on Ti so boosted higher? Ti and TX are so close in performance to be within the margin of error, so not entirely plausible to see it trade blows sometimes?

I mean I agree this may not be legit, but not because the 980 Ti trades blows. TX and Ti are very close..

I don't want to spoil the party but I just ran a single TX using the same settings as they did lol.

Be prepared for a shock

Even allowing for the overclock I was using it is no contest.

The Fiji Fury is going to be a great card but I would rather judge it on real benchmarks.:)

So you over-clocked your card, how is that a fair comparison :p

I agree we need to wait for legit reviews / benchmarks for a proper idea of how these cards stack up. These leaks / rumors is all we have until then lol.

Because I would have need a 100% overclock to beat their figures if genuine lol.

I know Maxwell is good but not that good.:p

The point I am making is that table is total garbage and it would be unfair to judge the Fiji cards on it.:)

Haha, agreed. I think these dodgy leaks make a new launch a bit fun at least :D

Will you be picking up Fiji if performance is a good 10%+ faster?

I'm gonna have to try one of these for myself.

AMD R9 R380 and R390 have respun chips

Improved Hawaii and Tonga launch on the 18th

Many things are well known about the AMD Fiji XT HBM card, but we recently learned one interesting fact.

The Radeon R390 an R380 cards will be based on improved Hawaii and Tonga chips. Radeon R9 290X and 290 will be replaced by an improved Hawaii-based chip codenamed Granada that is basically improved Hawaii silicon. This is not a simple rebrand, it is an improved design, or so our sources claim, but they didn’t want discuss the details. The Radeon R9 390X and R9 390 and these cards will launch on June 18th.

AMD Fiji X 'Nano' £699 VS Titan X £850+
AMD Fiji X £649 VS Titan X £850+
AMD Fiji Pro £499 VS 980 Ti £550+
AMD 390X 8GB £349 VS 980 £389+
AMD 390 8GB £249 VS 970 £249+

My guess is something like that.

No the GTX980 it appears now.

Lol, what?

Is that a extra deep radiator at the back?

That radiator is fat. Must do a great job at cooling, unless Fiji is hotter than a thousand suns.

There's air versions as well so it can't be that hot?

Just looked at videocardz, now saying the TX and Fiji trade blows. If that's true guess it comes down to pricing.

It depends if the shroud is for the radiator only or for the radiator and the fan together.

Good spot Cat, yeah looks like that is the fan and rad in one. not to bad then. Could fit in the front of my CM690III, back end is blocked with H105. Can only fit a single 120 at rear.

In all honesty if this just trades blows with TX, I'll just keep my card rather than have hassle of selling etc.

Nice for new buyers though providing Fiji is a fair bit cheaper. Will all come down to price.

Still nothing that seems legit in terms of performance. Not long to go now though ! I think I'm sticking with TX now though. It's so good that even another 10% - 15% just won't be worth the hassle of switching and loss in coin.

Gonna try and keep my TX right up until the next die shrink, although if AMD release an 8GB HBM card that would be very tempting ! Going to pass on these first 4GB ones though.

It took MSI 29 years to sell 100 million Nvidia GPU's..

But in just 9 months one graphics card 'GTX 970' sold 6 million..

Seems dodgy, if these numbers are legit, where's the source / proof?

29 years!!!??? Are you nuts???

Bloody good trick as nVidia were founded in 1993...:p

Ah yeah you're right MSI was founded in 1986, started making Nvidia in 1999.

MSI started in 1986 ~ 2015 = 29 years, but they started making Nvidia cards in 1999 ~ 2015 so = 16 years.

So if we take that figure, 16 years to reach 100 million, and apply to these numbers. I.e 6 million GTX 970's in 9 months, use the maths to round it up. So 9 / 6 = 1.5 = 7.5 Million per year. X by 16 = 120 Million.

if we added all the other Nvidia GPU's MSI make what would the number be over 200/300 million? Those numbers are dodgy confirmed lol :p

I'm still tempted to think that figure is right though, I know loads with them! AMD are getting a right battering in regards to marketshare, I hate to say it but they'll be teetering on the edge if they don't get a boost soon....:(

Mate,Nvidia said they sold 1 million GTX980 and GTX970 in 4 months. That's from the horses mouth. Seriously look at his last few posts.

Yeah no I updated my post. If you incorporated the other cards MSI made, the numbers would be what 200/300 million. Those numbers that guy posted are seriously dodgy !
