Does it actually matter though.

With the 2XX series AMD re-branded the previous flagship 'HD 7970' to the R9 280X and introduced two new high end flagship cards, R9 290 and R9 290X. This was enough to take on the Nvidia Titan (Top card at the time).

Now AMD is re-branding the 290X 4GB/8GB, to the 390X 8GB and introducing two new flagship cards, the AMD Fiji (Cut) and AMD Fiji (Full chip) to take on Nvidia's current flagships.

If these cards are competitive at the various price points who cares if a lower down card is rebranded..

At what cost tho Boom? the 290X is being sold right now at cost if not a loss.

If AMD jack the price up by renaming they can't sell them, they can't sell them at current pricing, if they drop the price they might sell them but lose big money on everyone they sell, they will end up bankrupt soon because they have no card to fill in the £300 to £400 gap.

Basically if what we are saying AMD only have one GPU thats new, That according to other rumors from the same source is also massive, expensive to produce and slower than a 980TI... it also has no profit margin. AMD have nothing.....
WCCF have spent everyday coming up with a new rumor, there must 20 different ones from them by now and not in a single one of them have they substantiated anything they have said, what we do know is some of their rumors have already been proven to be false, they continue on repeating those same false rumors.

WCCF right now are being the biggest internet trolls on earth, how can that not be obvious?

AMD Radeon 300 Series Pricing Confirmed – Very Aggressive Performance Per Dollar Focused Positioning

$389/£254 for 390x 8GB..interesting proposition if true.

if it had a excellent cooler/not noisy...even better if they pull a rabbit out of hat over parity support for dx12, it would be an excellent value card with great longevity...

if not then it will become to some extent or another the value option..

it needs to be great value with 16nm looming 12months away.

+vat which takes it to £304.

If the prices of the 980ti are anything to go by (they actually arrived close to what was predicted) we might actually get the 390x at somewhere near the £304, which is about what 8GB 290x's start at now. So it could be a straight swap out at the currant price point.

don't forget VAT and the normal UK rip off charge

A 390X 8GB looks very good in the face of a GTX 970.

Indeed, lot's of people will not look any further than "X card has 4GB and Y card has twice as much for the same price".

Hell we have all seen the companies that try and advertise the 4GHz FX-8 CPUs as 32GHz CPUs lol, it works because most consumers are idiots and think bigger number is better.

Prices on 28nm (Very Mature) and GDDR5 (To be usurped over the next few years) are likely very cheap.

These cards will not be sold at a loss, from a business stance re producing a nearly 2 year old design with cheaper to produce materials is a good strategy not a bad one.

I agree about WCCF, seems a new article contradicting the last one every day. They could just be reporting the latest but it does seem like to generate hits.

The first thing I noticed is the absence of Fury. Maybe this card is simply using a different name, or maybe Fury is not ready yet, and we should expect these cards to be available later. I hope not, that would really make me furious..

o we are going to see this pun a lot :)

I am now fully expecting fury to beat the 980Ti and at a good price point or the 3xx series will be very disappointing for current 2xx series owners. Based on current leaks.
