G80= 8800 GTX/ GTS 640 and 320
G92= 8800 GT , 9800 GT,
G92 fully unlocked= GTS 512, 9800GTX, 9800GX2, GTS 250
G92b (55nm)= 9800GTX+

There's probaly a few more ive missed out

There is all the mobile side as well i.e. the GTX2x0m was a fully unlocked G92b chip with 1 or 2GB of VRAM and I believe is being sold as mentioned above as a rebadged desktop 700 series GPU even today - not sure about it being sold as a "780".

Fudzilla saw Fury behind closed door after signed NDA with one of AMD partner, told Fiji XT is the flagship with water cooler, GPU with interposer measures 55mm x 55mm, while the card length is around 190mm or 7.5 inches.

Here was rumours about Fiji XT with 8GB HBM appear in August but Fiji only can use a maximum of 4GB so however it cant add another 4 stacks of 4GB HBM. 8GB HBM will show up in Fiji VR the dual GPU chips that will launch in Q4 2015. If you want a single chip with 8GB HBM then you have to wait until 2016 when HBM2 are ready with Pascal first then Arctic Islands later.

So what is Fiji Nano? Possible the lowest end with 2816 shaders.

Ok guys if the 390/390x is a rebrand, would you have minded if it was the same architecture but shrunk down onto a smaller node?

Well in my book a rebrand is the same chip in a new card in the same configuration , if that same chip is remade on a new process then it is no longer the same chip.:)

I think AMD will slap HBM2 on Fury as soon as its available. Theres no need to wait for Arctic Islands.

Cheapest custom 290 is 320 EUR here. Cheapest custom 290x is 390 EUR. Both 4GB of course.

You can get an Asus 290X for £240 right now on OCUk and from that site 350EUR is about £256 for a 380?

If true this is pretty bad unless the 380 is as fast as a 290X.

Does it actually matter though.

With the 2XX series AMD re-branded the previous flagship 'HD 7970' to the R9 280X and introduced two new high end flagship cards, R9 290 and R9 290X. This was enough to take on the Nvidia Titan (Top card at the time).

Now AMD is re-branding the 290X 4GB/8GB, to the 390X 8GB and introducing two new flagship cards, the AMD Fiji (Cut) and AMD Fiji (Full chip) to take on Nvidia's current flagships.

If these cards are competitive at the various price points who cares if a lower down card is rebranded..

That's a fairly good point.

I wonder if people would be so annoyed had the Fiji come in as 390/X and the 290/X had been rebranded as 380/X.

It's only a matter of branding, and they're doing pretty much the same as they did with the last generation.

What if the 4GB Fury is really just to market the VR customers, if the HBM VRAM somehow makes a huge improvement to VR users then it could be an interesting product. They could say, looks this is a great card that handles all current games at very high levels but it will also be tailored to help VR.

Pure speculation that's come from nothing but my head. But it would be an interesting counter to those that straight away start comparing it to the Titans 12GB, AMD could potentially turn around and say yep, 12GB VRAM is great, but 4GB HBM RAM is much better for VR. Consider that VR is out at the end of the year, could be good timing.

Yes, i'm looking for a card at around 980 performance for <£350

I have a 290, obviously i'm not going to buy another 290 for £300 when i already have one, <£500 is out of my range.

Lets think, 270 owners are not going to go out and buy another 270 under another name, and 280 owners.......

If these rumors are true, and i doubt they are.. AMD have nothing for their current owners, its all what their current users already have for the same cost of what they already have.

The only thing for AMD owners to do if they want to upgrade is to move to Nvidia, That would be the only option AMD would have given its current users.

If all this is true i predict a catastrophe for AMD pending

Your not making sense at all..
AMD themself told that 8Gb cards will come in august, and 1-2 months ago there were articles about they can put 8gb to Fiji cards with dual-link interposer.
HBM 2 is predicted not 2016 but Q3 this year...
How do you know Pascal will come first then Arctic islands?
Fiji Nano is posted as the watercooled Fiji, not the smallest one

Your post seems like pointless guessing against all the articles on topic.

They can't 'upgrade' to Fiji? If it's affordable that is.

I am now fully expecting fury to beat the 980Ti and at a good price point or the 3xx series will be very disappointing for current 2xx series owners. Based on current leaks.

Agreed on the first part. Expecting high performance from Fiji. I disagree with the second part though. The type of buyer who picked up 290X / 290 at launch is now ready for something new (If they haven't gone Nvidia already) so Fiji would be perfect for them. Those that bought into 2XX series later on already got great bang for buck, and will probably hold out for next year when we see a true development, die shrink, HBM 2.0 etc.

A 390X 8GB going into the mid - high slot, regardless of being a rebrand (Enhanced Hawaii) is still progress. The 4GB 290X was pricey at launch. An 8GB enhanced version for £250 squids wouldn't be bad at all.

Now we just wait for reviews / pricing...

Yes but the thing being (if it is a straight rebrand) a user with a 290x and £350 to spend has no option for an upgrade from AMD. Furry will definitely be more expensive than that.
