Okok, I'm a dumbass :p

Ha, agreed :D

The overall PC market is in decline. PC gaming is relatively much healthier. In fact its one of the only bright spots in an otherwise stale industry.

Yeah a lot of people can't seem to make this distinction. Hence why loads of PC is dead threads and articles appear.

Traditional PC market is shrinking. The gaming PC is market is actually growing, with people buying more parts for gaming builds than at any other time.

Not as much as those dodgy numbers on here suggest though :p

Hmmm well maybe you looked at old stat before Jan 2015?

Here the latest May 2015 stats:

Fair enough. I got mine results from here http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/videocard/

And I misread that 2.54 it was actually 2.5%

I logged in yesterday and the entire last page was all talk about Nvidia cards.

It's quite sad that some people around here lack the respect to stay the eff out of threads that don't concern them and stop spreading their rubbish.

Ironically you don't see AMD users spamming up the Intel threads. Though in this section anything goes it seems

I've been thinking today whilst working on my lady's rig. I really don't care now if the Fury is slower than the Nvidia cards. I just want them to be affordable and fast.

Bravo. People seem to get so wound up about crap and rumours it's unreal. I've been following this thread every day for two months or so and it's achieved nothing but arguments and bickering from people who take this way too seriously.

Even the whole xbox vs ps debate isn't this full of crap.

I wouldn't be surprised if people have more than one account on steam or upgrade motherboard etc and do the survey again. It would account for some of the inflated stats.

There's also the fact that many cards are counted more than once. I have been asked (and submitted) a few of those steam surveys. On occasion with the exact same GPU.

Also factor in that used GPUs do end up being counted two or even more times. I wonder how many GPUs end up being counted again after being sold on, and even sold on again.

Hell some GPUs in that survey, such as GTX680s or HD7970s may have been through multiple owners by now.

Seriously, this is the quote from Nvidia at the GTX960 launch on the 22nd of January:

The GeForce GTX 980 and GeForce GTX 970 are the best GPUs ever made. Hundreds of press reviews and thousands of user ratings agree, and with over 1 million GPUs sold in 4 months it’s not just talk.

So,in the 4 months after that they sold,6 to 7 times that amount(including the hullaboo about the GTX970) and yet Nvidia PR are absolutely quiet about it.

So,either Nvidia PR has failed or the numbers are off.

Where is JHH mentioning they managed to increase sales by a FACTOR of 6 to 7 in the same period??

Yet,the midrange GTX960 has 4 to 5 times LESS sales than the GTX970 and GTX980 in the same period.

Seems, very weird there is no mention of this massive upturn in numbers at the Investors day in March.

Mebbe,JHH is become modest in his older days,LOL.

All you are going to get from Steam is a baseline of numbers, not everyone who uses Steam participates in this....also not everyone who owns a graphics card uses Steam (as absurd as that sounds lol :D )

Probably because the Xbox and PS actually got released..

AMD have taken so long in bringing something new that it's sent things into a frenzy !

After cards get launched it will be the typical arguments.. 'Ooh that card sucks because it uses 20 more watts', and 'Ooh my drivers are better than yours'..

Until then people have to entertain themselves while waiting, we only have rumour / speculation to go on..

True. I came back to PC gaming last year, after many years on consoles, as I found the new consoles underwhelming.

The Kepler pre-release thread was actually quite fun. This thread OTH,seems more like an E-PEEN scoring match at times.

Plus, another thing is that the time period between the HD7970 and the R9 290X was around 22 months.

If Fuji is released this month,it would be around 20 months.

The Titan and Titan X were seperated by over two years.

I am not sure why people think Fuji is delayed TBH!

Yeah, the Steam survey isn't brilliant. But no survey will be.
The only thing the Steam survey is really good for is giving a vague idea of percentages.

While the actual numbers may not really be close, there's no reason to think that only 20% of AMD owners completed it while 75% of Nvidia owners and 66% of Intel owners completed it.

I guess it's a bit like TV viewing figures, where they don't actually know how many people watch a program, but they know a subset and scale the percentages up (I'd guess).

Unless a survey asks and gets a response from everyone (and asks the right questions) then you're not going to know actual numbers.

Yeah the main reason this time being that Nvidia released Maxwell high end cards last September which have been unanswered for 9 months.

Nvidia have taken massive market share pushing AMD / ATI to an all time low of around 25% market share.

This has caused a lot of unease. Once the new cards are finally here, things will likely go back to the usual childish, 'my drivers are better than yours', and 'that card is so power hungry it uses 20 more watts'. Literally not much different to the type of stuff in this thread. Difference being people are uneasy right now, so are more tetchy.. In two or three weeks in will back per the norm. pretty much like it is now but with less things to be petty about.

The box says DX12 support. Interesting.

AMD,needs to be far more competitive in laptops, which is where their marketshare has really gone down the drain.
