Fury X sounds great and all, but without good driver support it's nothing but paper weight. Look what happened at AMD'S 295X2.

Enough said

The Fury X is a single GPU, AMD drivers are absolutely spot on for most single card users and for a lot of crossfire users bar those who play a select few games.

I don't think it will beat a TitanX and cost the same as a 980Ti, that wouldn't be a good business move as they could price it £100 under a Titan X and still out sell it.

Indeed.

We have to wait for reviews but form what has been said the Fury X looks to be about the same performance as the 980Ti, if it was faster than the TX they liekly would have said so (and not a dual Fury be the fastest card).

The price that AMD have set looks like they want it to go head to head with the 980Ti. Same price, same performance looks to be the liekly outcome.

Yet the GPU has 2x8pin and water cooling, lets wait for reviews.

Water cooling is probably the easiest way to disperse heat concentrated into that small of an area, gddr 5 is obviously more spread out over the pcb whereas hbm is virtually on top of the core. The small pcb probably means they would have to extend it in some way with a blank pcb to mount a functioning air cooler. If its cool and quiet i doubt many would care, putting in 4 screws to mount a rad is hardly the most challenging job for most people and there's plenty of cases that support it. No clue what the air cooled fury will look like.

Exactly. Yeah it's a nice price considering it's watercooled but at the end of the day the in-game performance is what matters.

Even if it runs super quiet and cool but is slower than a 980ti at the same price then how is that impressive?

Maybe we'll see some benchmarks before next Wed :o

649$ is £540 here

$649 is the 980TI RRP in the US so you can figure 980Ti pricing in the UK.

If people want single cards I'm pretty sure the Fury X will be the best price to performance card in that class.

The normal Fury will probably be the best price/performance wise. Depends how close they are, if it's only a few percent then most will go for the Fury.

Clever release schedule though as with the Fury X coming first a lot of people waiting on the normal Fury may bite and just spend the extra $100 on the X.

Why is everyone getting so excited? I am not sure I am following.

AMD are releasing a card that MIGHT match a 980Ti...for the same money, with a higher TDP.

Yet the GPU has 2x8pin and water cooling, lets wait for reviews. So far all we have is a RRP of $650 same as 980Ti, with 2GB less and no evidence that it can beat a 980Ti. Why are people wetting themselves?

The 2x8pin and water cooling certainly is a course for concern.
The only way that makes sense is even if their core is 1.5x as efficient as the 290X they have pushed things to crazy limits to try to meet or beat the Titan X

You've just made all this up....you have no more idea than the rest of us...
