AMD is competing - just not in our market right now.

You know that's one of the most sensible things iv ever heard anyone say here.

Because obviously, were just looking at graphics cards we can buy and whos top dog, but theres so much going on, apart from the fact that facts are saying that NVidia are selling more graphics cards.
Them benchmarks don't show GPU's in total for consoles and well everything really,
and if you look at who actually owns gpu's, a lot of folks are still rocking old amd cards like I am, so once the new amd Graphics cards come out, then it could even up the playing field again, especially if we are on top by a big margin, which in reality we are all hoping for, Or at least I certainly am, because theres nothing appealing to me right now on the market when I own two 7950s.

Edit, just noticed you have a 980, and your saying something not disrespectful about AMD? :p Nice to see some maturity in this forum!

So what ya recon then, 390X official news this week or not.

I think no but.. that's only because of how long were being kept waiting so far. so friggin annoying.

AMD will announce their Q1 financials on the 16th, doubt we will hear anything prior to that, and tbh i dont think we will hear anything on new cards until this time next month at the earliest.

surely its in AMD's interest to leak some data or pics or just some information to keep people waiting just a little longer?

Normally a company would build hype on a new product, especially if its good, however AMD do not do the whole hype thing, especially not like Nvidia do.

They will announce the card shortly before release, you will get aload of NDA lifted reviews and then able to buy the card.

To be honest, AMD's marketing department either doesnt exist, is asleep, or incredibly inept at their jobs when it comes to marketing new products like GPU's.

This, they did the same thing with the 290X, lots of speculation, stone wall silence from AMD and then one day; bang it just appeared.

Stop just making crap up, Nvidia DO NOT HYPE PRODUCTS. When did you hear about the Titan X from Nvidia, when did it launch. When did you hear about the 980gtx FROM NVIDIA, when did it launch.

Neither AMD nor Nvidia hype graphics cards nor talk about them noticeably before they launch. THere have been one or two exceptions but 95% of time Nvidia/AMD graphics info is released with the launch and maybe you get a name or an idea of what it is 1-2 weeks before that.

If the 390x launches in June, expect to hear no info before maybe a week before June. If Nvidia releases their next card in say, October, expect to hear about it maybe a week before October.

I tend to agree. The Titan X wasn't really hyped. It was basically announced and then two weeks later it was available for purchase. I would think AMD would be advertising their card right now if it was better than the titan X or at the very least the 980. Seems like poor marketing.

So on the one hand you agree with DM and then on the other hand you reckon AMD should be advertising their new cards months in advance. seems like double standards to me.

DM is quite right they wont announce anything till they are ready to sell.

Maybe an announcement at E3 in June with availability a week or two latter.

For marketing AMD should be more like Nvidia.

To make it less like hype just don't publish any performance figures until release or a day or two before.

Just features and specification, thats all we want, its more fun without performance figures, we can use the specifications to debate over that.

Get people talking about it, its good marketing.

nobody knew sod all about TX until we saw 12gb RAM  but no Backplate

the big difference is that the TX was built/tested and then released quickly, but the 390X is dragging on far too long, fuelling all these silly rumours.

in addition, we knew roughly what TX was going to look like and also its performance, but the 390X could be flipping anything and even more than one version, plus a dual card too

390X should've been released this week.....it's so damned boring !!!!!!!!!
