Post Your Dash Cam Footage

Not mine but rather than start a new thread:

After that little wave there is absolutely no way I'd have been reversing - I generally try to facilitate other people on the road but in that situation not a chance.

I'd have probably gotten out the cab and gone for a cuppa tbh. Zero tolerance for people like that.

Sometimes with this situation people do employ, incorrectly, a "first to the line" mentality and in that situation I'd have a bit more sympathy for the car driver - but the lorry had clearly committed before the white car was visible and even if it had been marginal a situation where any reasonable person would have been accommodating. (Just trying to look at both sides of this).

Yeah the HGV driver was better than us both there. I'd have been well and truly triggered.

yes that was bloody minded, didn't really need a man-splaining explanation - maybe the white driver needed (new) glasses

locally, HGV's are often taking narrow single parked roads through town/village, whilst they might be the most direct route, they are not the best adapted to their siize - get a better commercial nav system.

As a mostly cyclist , hgv drivers seem poor at judging nearside space on parked cars and choose to be closer to oncoming traffic, without reducing speed,
I'm not prepared to cycle in the gutter/debris, or be passed at speed 1m from the wheels of an hgv, hence,
I'll often force the issue by holding a line that forces them to reduce speed, so I can pass safely.

There is an emergency diversion through one of the towns I commute through due to a wall coming down - instead of taking the HGV route around many of the large vehicles were using a narrow road as a shortcut until they demolished another wall and nearly killed someone (separate incidents) then the council closed that road as well. They still don't take the HGV route but using a narrow out of town road to get around which is plainly not well suited to large vehicles, and often do silly speeds on it at that, rather than take the longer HGV signed/suited diversion.

Update from the driver of the lorry in that clip above:

Thanks Ashley for posting , I am the driver of the HGV in the clip , I had to give in and reverse as I had my company name emblazoned down the side and rear of my trailer and would not want to give them a bad name as many other drivers arriving to the area after the initial situation arose would possibly think I was in the wrong and tried to push through (which I hadn’t) , I had to edit the middle out of the clip as I didn’t want recognising by sight or sound as I did get out the cab , approach the driver explaining I was committed to passing the parked vehicles before seeing him (so had right of way ) but he was adamant he was not moving , as far as reversing goes I did get out and check behind me before I started reversing , I couldn’t reverse the full way back as a car came up and stopped behind me , it hurt me to have to back down and reverse but the drivers attitude was shocking and I didn’t want to bring my company any bad rep, as far as banksman are concerned , in my job they don’t exist and have to carry out many challenging and dangerous reversing regularly !

Should have just called the police IMO.

Not really the best idea calling the police because someone was a bit annoying.

If it was just a regular car they were doing it to I'd agree. In the context of a large vehicle like that it can go against the car driver as driving without due care and attention due to not showing appropriate consideration for the other vehicle with the higher risks involved with that vehicle doing unnecessary reversing/manoeuvring.

In fact given all the facts if they are as seemed I hope the driver does get prosecuted for it.

The car driver has probably been grieved by some HGV drivers in the past so this time he has thought screw you and made the HGV reverse. I know there are a lot of HGV drivers out their who use their size to bully other road users.

This entirely depends on where you are tipping. In the grand scheme of things not everything is a simple RDC to RDC driving on motorways job.

Some farm collections are little narrow paths that offshoot off residential area's which leaves you no choice but to go down to access them.

You have to be strong and give your presence when going down roads like this as it is impossible to merge in safely behind cars hence taking the whole slog at once and hoping the oncoming traffic have the brains to see that.

I was following a car once and as we got to a narrow bridge she just went on even though there was a single decker bus nearly at her end of bridge -She waved her hand in you reverse gesture -bus driver put his arms on wheel and shook his head side to side.

Once she started to reverse it was obvious why she wanted bus to reverse -After five minute she had backed up enough for bus to squeeze past and both her nearside wheels were up the grass verge and car was at a 20 degree angle.
as bus came past me we both had a big grin on our faces.

Thinking back on that it has to be 35 yrs ago,

Kind of related - was trying to get out of a road earlier, turning right - place where 3 other roads all come together fairly close but not quite a crossroads and traffic was busy, cleared to my left, car on my right was slowing down to turn into the road I was coming out of so pulled out in front of them, did mean for like 1 second I was delaying the car behind them proceeding... they made a huge drama of it pulling right up to me as close as they could and throwing their hands in the air showing obvious, non-trivial levels of, annoyance... some people really need to have a word with themselves. Sadly due to the angle have nothing to show on dashcam.

I'm tempted to upload mine from last night. Was coming home from lightwater valley, around 6.30ish. Sticking to the speed limit on the back roads as there's sometime cameras. I had this merc that was trying to fuse himself to my rear bumper because I dared to stick to 40. I put my foot down to go up to national and he attempted to overtake at the same time:rolleyes:. As I was a bit tired I maybe should have taken my foot off the accelerator as he didn't stop at 60. I felt a bit daft afterwards, but who tries to overtake just as the limit changes (and not to brag, but I'm driving a quicker car). There's was debadged and had a private plate so normally that's a pretty good sign of a (door)knob. He eventually managed to get by and moved forward by 1 place for the next 20 minutes:cry:, then tried to fuse himself with the car infront. It's a shame cameras don't pick up this kind of poor driving.

Should have just called the police IMO.

As a bus driver, you'd be surprised how often this happens.

If I see them coming and I can then I'll accomodate but once I've comitted a 13ton 40ft long vehicle I won't be going back.

Usually turning the engine off and pulling out the Metro I've got stashed in the cab works

I have called the police before (although usually the threat of calling gets the idiot to back down if it's got to that stage) & they've attended. In the last 3 years, 7 FPNs for Sec 137 offences issued to the driver refusing to back down (none for me)

So if I'm reading right, you're the white car in this scenario and you fail to yield as per the highway code/road traffic law? And you think this makes you a hero in the story?
