Thanks to this post I purchased 8gb and Vista64 just to abuse the ramdisk facility.

Not benchmarked any games yet, but here is my 6gb ramdrive.

ooh $25 and free keys if you need to reinstall :D What are you using yours for. Are you happy with it? I'm thinking it might not be good to use for games as it takes up quite a bit of CPU time?

U dont need 6Gb for swap file. The rule of thumb that the swap file should be 3x the RAM size is outdated. Even if ** swap file overflows windows will automatically make an additional swap file; at which point u should have a message about it. Also with hidden files enabled u would be able to see if you have any additional swap files.

With the amount of total ram i will be using soon i will be needing a 6 GB ramdrive for the pagefile. I want to make sure its plenty big enough for what i want. Again, the 1 GB was only to test the ramdrive

Unless you are running some special graphics program which Ive never heard of and it requires more than 4Gb/8Gb (whatever your talking about), then you wont need a lot of virtual ram; simply because of the fact you have so much ram and its really not at capacity.

Im not just making this up Ive read it in a guide where he dispelled the mith of page file having to be 3 x the ram capacity.

Thats memory in win XP. I'm talking Vista64 addressing a big chunk (undecided but big)of ram, roughly i'm guessing i'll be needing around 6MB ramdrive for the cache & explorer. I'm not 100% sure what size of physical ram to go for yet. I'll decide soon.
 
Single 74Gb Raptor 16Mb


2x 74Gb Raptors RAID 0, using the boards hardware controller (SiI 4723) on P5W. Thought it would be pretty slow, seems ok. 60% increase with second drive.
