Post your hard drive benchmarks!

2 x 80gb maxtor diomondmax 9s in raid 0 on an onboard raid controller. One disk has 2mb cache, the other 8mb so its not too great.

So your mate gets 200meg/s ?

Yes :)
Look at Netvypers graph on the first page, and he's added a couple of drives since then, which increases throughput.

With 3.AAK i can't even break ~100MB in RAID0 with 4 drives. Bursts are fine (>400MB/s) so it's not PCIe limiting me.

Have a look at this page of an x-bit labs defragging article, and what happens to the 500GB seagate 7200.10's when AHCI is turned on (AHCI is needed for SATA raid)
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/storage/display/defragmentation-perfectdisk_5.html#sect0

Basically the seagate drives all get slower, and my model of drive gets a LOT slower with it enabled. Something is really screwed at Seagate.

RPstewart I tend to not enable the cache at the moment while still testing my new systems so I dont risk data corruption, but I have just run the test with cache enable to see the difference

2 x Raptors on a IP35 Pro. Latest 7.6 Intel drivers, with write back cache enabled. The bust is an anomaly with HD Tach, worth a laugh though.

ouch that raid really nerfed your access times. Do you still find it quicker than a single disk?
