This actually cost me a small fortune as I had to buy another version of Vista to get it installed....
I had the upgrade version which needs an OS on the HD before it will install, Obviously I couldnt boot my OS with RAID set to on in the Bios so I had to fork out more money to the Bill Gates retirment fund
Get the intel matrix storage manager and enable it on the raid array

You can do a clean install using the upgrade disk. It's a bit messy as you have to go through the install routine twice - once booting from the Windows DVD and then a second time reinstalling Vista from within Windows.
I've not tried it with raid, but would have thought that it would work as the first install is completed from the Windows disk in the same way as if you were using the full Windows disk, not the upgrade.

Ok so I've got the write back cache working and here's the results;
Improved again in all areas
I don't know why the read speed is so all over the place though? Peaks at 500MB/s!!
