Nice speakers Nick, but I do feel they need something a bit better than an 609 though even though it probably sounds rather nice.

Cheers delta. got some more now. I finished the restoration of the goodmans speakers. I fitted some Seas 22TFF H1280-06 Prestige Series tweeters as they were a direct fit and had a suitable frequency response/sensitivity. The change in sound has been quite a surprise moving from the 35 year old goodmans DT3 tweeters and god knows what 8" drivers were there before. (elac supposedly)

I also pulled my dads old turntable out and fixed the damage i did to it 20 years ago. (decimated arm wiring and a ruined stylus) Been restoring it by cleaning/polishing bits that have gone dull over the years. Trying to work out whether to by a new cartridge or get a new stylus for one of the cartridges i've already got. (dust cover is absent as i was part way through polishing it)

It's worth noting that this kit was bought for a much, much bigger flat! But I split up with my gf and now rend a tiny 1-bed apartment where I barely manage to squeeze it all it. The acoustics are also awful with all those hard surfaces close by. Music is compromised mostly. I still get a lot of enjoyment watching Blu-rays though!

Nick, nice upgrade there! Is the XLS400 really that much better than the 200?

It's my housemates gear - 2 x Technics 1200 MK2's and Traktor Scratch Pro 2 with Audio 10DJ and an Allen & Heath XONE 42 (i think)

Used to have 771's - lovely detailed sound. Always lusted after the floorstanding versions but could never afford them!

agw_01 - The 400 is a pretty big step up from the 200, more weighty bottom end and more power.

Finally got round to chasing the cables into the wall:

In september we will be coming up to 1 year since the house was built, I will be looking to decorate, can't wait to get a bit of colour into the room - well at least break up the plain magnolia anyway! At this point I will be getting my mate to move the sockets down behind the cabinet. Possibly add a cat5 socket as I am struggling with the HD streaming over N wireless in the house.

I upgraded again. This time my amp, ditched the Onkyo 609 for a Pioneer VXS-LX53. Not a massive difference but it is better, music sounds amazing now.
