Post Your Home Cine & HiFi Kit...

I tend to look up artists/albums, buy the CD, rip to ALAC or buy FLAC and convert to ALAC, but if there's a vinyl version which I know is superior (and this tends to be for music that's more audiophile friendly), I tend to find lossless versions of that magically appear on my music server. ;)

Another mastering guy on Head-Fi said that attempts to introduce audio standards into the music industry, in the same way there are audio standards for film/TV, being higher end budget/equipment-wise have been rebuked by record labels. :(

Not sure if I posted the new screen or not. Actually an old pic, has since been painted with Black Widow paint and the screen wall has been velveted. 108" 2.35:1

Must.. not... look.. at.. sme... tonearm....

To all the home cinema guys (although mainly the projector owners) How did you get clearance from swmbo for your rigs. I could do with some pointers :D

Mine's a bedroom setup... but I'm still hiding it behind a wall-hanging when not in use. Maybe find a big piece of art or a rug your woman likes to cover it up? Obviously if you're loaded you can get the drop down ones that hide away, but fixed screens > roll-up/pull-down.

Nice SME tt. You're spot on with the loudness wars thing, i've noticed it too and now try to buy most modern stuff on vinyl. Here's my SME/Thorens combo. Not quite as posh as your 20/3 but certainly sounds good enough for me.

First stage of the redecoration complete. This is a temporary measure until I can afford to rip the room completely apart, have it replastered, acoustic panels put in the walls and get a PJ and screen up. The feature wall will be fabric with rock wool behind it, and the brown was a tester colour since I want a darkish velvet to help with the PJ. :)

The DB1i rears are out of shot for now, when the new sofa is in I'll take some backwards shots :) I took lots of photos as we worked on the room so I'll chuck a thread up showing how it's got to this point so far :)

They're FB1i that we're built specially for me. Centre is a DB1-MCi and the rears are DB1i. Subs are 2x Monolith DF with Antimode.

Fronts and rears have their own power amps (bottom right of cabinet) and I'm saving up for a processor so I can do away with the AVR (bottom left). Source is a PS3 :)

One off ??? I guess you work for the company then?

My dream is to own a pair of FB1 (originals is fine), I been wanting them for the last 10 years and what rather bugs me is how they went from £1100 to £2,000 in the new FB1i !

That's almost doubled the price, is it twice as good? :/
