Almost finished re-decorating so thought I'd post a quick pic. Not much in the way of hifi @ the moment or even a telly. Hope to change that in the next few months. I like my music more than telly so hope to get some half decent naim gear to fill the gaps.lol

System so far though,

Yamyam rx-v800rds Home cinema amp/rec
Marantz ki-signature cd63 mk2 CD player
xbox - with nowt to use it with
Silverstone lascala lc-03 but without any guts. Soon to sort.
tannoy mx1 speakers just sitting on the desk not doing anything at the moment.
My babys - Monitor audio Silver S8's floorstanders

Looking good David230! :)

Those tannoy's going to the back of the room?

What are you gonna do about a display - monitor, lcd tv, projector?

Naim... nice kit! Better post some pics when you begin upgrading that stuff!!! Your Silver S8's will thank you for that!

cheers gt_junkie,

I auditioned the Silver s8's on naim gear, loved the sound and ever since then I've wanted to move towards naim seperates aswell.

I plan on using the s8's with naim for music. Then build up a second system purely for home cinema. As for the tannoys, I hav'nt decided what to do with them yet.

Display wise, possibly the dell 3007. That will need to wait for a little while longer for me to be able to afford it.

Sounds like a great plan. A friend of mine has the 3007 and it's an awesome screen!

Keep us posted!

I'll try and get some pics of my kit on here some time - just moved house so never seem to have the time at the moment!!! :(

Don't remember putting any photos up on here before, so here's a couple:
Here's my CD transport, sat atop my old stand, looking all unassuming:
mgjk0000-500Transport.JPG

And a rather lousy wider shot showing my left hand speaker, BC amp and transport, all sat on an Ikea stand:
mgjk0000-Stereo.JPG

The transport, amp and speakers are all mounted on granite bases, with RDC cones under the amp and CD transport.
The rega box is an "ear" headphone amp, not that it gets much use. My DAC is out of view, behind the transport. As it's a rather boring looking black box, hardly matters.

My Setup

Fairly new here and only just seen this thread. some very nice setups here!!!

Thought I might as well add details of my setup, though it’s nowhere near as impressive as a lot I’ve seen here. (pics to follow oneday when I have time)

Amp/Receiver:
Marantz SR5000

CD Player:
Marantz CD6000 OSE

DVD Player:
Wharfdale DVD750

Minidisc Player:
Sony something or other.

TV:
Sony 21” 4:3 CRT

Speakers:
Centre – KEF Q90C
Fronts – KEF Q35’s
Rears – KEF Q85s

(Also have a set of KEF Q15’s stored away waiting for when I have more space)

Video:
Pass, it’s a nicam one from many years ago but does the job nicely when called upon.

This is all setup as you’d imagine with a few additional bits and pieces.

Firstly, I have both my computers hooked up to the amp, both for video and audio.

The first computer is my media computer, I run software called Media Engine, which is really designed for Carputers but is perfect for what I wanted. This is con trolled via infra red remote, allowing me very quick and easy access to my entire music collection. And at some stage when I have space/finances for extra storage, my entire dvd collection though with my collection nearing 300 disc that may be some while away.

The second computer, is my main computer that I use day to day, this is really used for gaming etc so the sound is hooked up for that but also I have my music collection available on this too so I can listen to whatever I want when working.

Secondly I have my Playstation and N64 hooked up to the amp, and powered using X10 appliance modules so I can switch them on via remote. They are linked to the amp via a video/audio switcher, so they only take up one input on the amp. This also allows me some expandability if I ever get a more up-to-date console (though that’s unlikely)

Thirdly, the video is set up in such a way that it is linked to the TV for direct view, the amp for viewing with audio through my speakers, and also to my main computer’s video capture card which I use for editing etc. Finally it is connected to a wireless video/audio sender which sends to my workshop outside where I have a 7”widescreen display to keep me company while I work out there.

My whole system is controlled by my much loved Philips Pronto. I have built the config for it from scratch and have macros for setting up the system for any activity etc. For controlling my media computer I have an IRman receiver. My remote also controls my lights and a fan.

I would love to upgrade various parts of this system but at the moment am still living with my parents and saving hard for a house deposit. Once I get a house I think I’ll upgrade the dvd player to something rather more special, though the DVD750 is still playing everything I throw at it and doing so well.

I can’t wait to get the Q15’s working as my rears as they will be more of a match for the power of the Q35’s than the surround speakers I currently have….though they are very decent speakers too.

Depending on my situation I’d love a REL sub, I had one on loan for a week and it was the most amazing thing ever, it had such depth, power and control but unfortunately it was just too much of a beast for my current location and to prevent it being a total nuisance to everyone in the house I had to reign it in so much that it wasn’t performing much more than my Q35’s can already do and hence I couldn’t justify the cost.

Ohh I completly forgot about this thread. I was waiting to post untill I got my amp.

OK so my current setup

Epos ELS 3 5.1
Denon 2807
Samsung 32" LE32R41BDX LCD
QED Silver Anniversary speaker cable
Canare Sub Cable
Xbox 360, Xbox, Gamecube
Sennheiser RS 140 Wireless Headphones
PC

Just got the amp and apart from keeping my room nice and hot in the hot summer lol, it's really great. The remote is as big and the power brick for the 360 but I will let that slide as it has lighty up buttons :p

The only thing to add now is a better sound card for my pc. A digital cable to connect my pc to amp. A HDMI cable to connect my TV to amp. A stero cable to connect my tv to amp Finding out if theres a way where I can keep my wireless headphones connected to my amp rather than having to use the headphone socket. A decent power cable for my sub. Then a HD DVD player when they come down in SIZE.

Of course being a student means this will all happen in the next 15 years lol.

Stuff you can't see = Atacama Nexus 6 stands, Supra rondo speaker wire, Atlas Basic interconnect.

Fwiw, it doesn't sound all that good after all that.

Here's my Quad ESL57 based hi-fi.
It's amazingly mismatched and it's a miracle it works - let alone sounds as good as it does!
