Post Your Home Cine & HiFi Kit...

That's pretty awesome, how easy is it to setup?

Does it become distracting at all?

Super easy to setup;

  1. Stick Lightpack & Lights to the back of your TV in one of three configurations
  2. Install Prismatik
  3. Configure Prismatik
  4. That's about it

In terms of distraction, at first it is pretty mesmerizing, but once you get used to it it's pretty subtle, however it is very configurable so you can turn down the brightness etc. to make it less distracting or configure it as a mood light so it's static and then a truer form of bias lighting.

Recently purchased Sony 50W829 and Sony HT-XT1 Soundbase.

I was up at my neighbour's todays and checked his home cinema for the first time.. Pair of Linn Klimax 350A's, Linn Sekrit in ceiling surrounds and the largest projector screen I have seen (electric and totally hidden when up).. Totally awesome. Wires are in all floor and ceiling.
I might put pics up if no one minds as, although it's not mine, its just too awesome :)

It made my Silver RX 5.1 and 60" Plasma seem rather insignificant.

Cheers.

Vents are at the front mostly and sort of taper towards the back so the percentage covered is minor and there is plenty of airflow inside.

I've not connected my rear speakers yet so not using 5 channels but I confess I can barely tell a difference between the standard/straight/pure/Enhanced modes anyway, although I am yet to tweak or test my set up.

Edit: Was taking pics of my Lego and got another wide shot, shows the space a bit better - teeny bit cramped on that side but no one really sits there, and if they do the TV can swing out all over the place. Thinking of a flat stylish silver/black radiator to give it more space.

Nice pics - I've got the 50W829 and was wondering what the Sony Soundbase is like?

Sound quality is nice and clear, the base is decent for what it is and also it syncs with the TV remote so you only need to use 1 remote to control volume, turns on/off both devices.

I'm no audophile therefore I can't really compare it with other sound systems and if it wasn't for the bundle offer with the T.V I probably wouldn't have purchased it for the current price.

Big plus going for this sound system is the ability to play music from your iPhone/Android device through NFC/Bluetooth, and the music quality it produces is similar to my old school Bose Soundock Classic.

Overall look is gloosy and sleek, as you would expect from any Sony entertainment devices, and it has exactly the same ilumminating light as the W829 TV.

I was not getting on with my Q-Acoustics sub so replaced it with a BK Gemini II unit.

The difference is superb much deeper and responsive. The BK is really well made and very impressive in use.

I'd be interested in some pics! :D

I finally got some speaker stands so the setup is pretty much complete, obviously I need to do some cable tidying as well, and get some better storage for our records, as there's a load in boxes to the left of the sofa as well :D

Very old 32" Samsung LCD TV
Xbox One
Project Debut Carbon Turntable
Marantz PM6005 Amp
B&W 685 Speakers
Atacama Nexus 5i speaker stands

Speaker placement is a bit tricky in a small room, but it sounds very good as it is so it'll do.

No idea, its 10" and sealed it rumbles away quite nicely. ☺

You may not be able to help here but why did you go for the Gemini over the xls200? I'm looking into a bk sub but have no idea which one I want to go for.
Was it's just the price that swung you? How big is your room?

Nice place and furniture, ScarySquirrel. I'm assuming thats your front door straight to the living room behind the curtain?

Interesting. Speaker faces down common?

Just so we're clear, its a Subwoofer not a speaker :p

And yes most subs (or higher end ones) come in DF (Down Firing) or the more typical FF (Front Firing) way. They produce slightly different effects that can be more or less beneficial depending on the shape of your room etc

Also DF is usually for when you don't have neighbours to worry about ;)

Glad to see another positive BK review, hoping to get Monolith FF (******* neighbours lol) in a month or so to go with my new setup. Value is amazing considering the power and build quality of the BK subs.
