Post Your Home Cine & HiFi Kit...

Cheers woppy, yeah that's the plan for me.

I bet you must be gutted about the oled.

I remember before a few years ago people were proclaiming oled TVs as the "perfect" technology, yet there's still uniformity issues.

One thing though are you going to find the Samsung you've got coming worse for uniformity? Not only might you have vertical banding but blacks are not going to compare at all.

I'm not trying to put a dampener on your purchase but there are things you won't tolerate, and rightly so for that amount of money. I'm the same. But I just feel the lcd/led will be worse.

If you wanted plasma you could potentially pick up a 55vt65 from tps http://www.tps.uk.com/?tab_id=52

Same price as the oled

I had a F8000 lcd before the OLED which was fine and the blacks weren't too bad plus one thing I cant stand more than bad uniformaty is DFC( dynamic false contouring)which the pannys are shocking for I had a gt60 before the f8000 , plus samsung class vertical banding as a fault so I will keep swaping the set until I get a good one

What dimensions are (were) your garage please?

The size pre-conversion dimensions were 8ft by 16ft 4". It was am integral garage so already double brick and insulated so I only lost a few inches to the plasterboard/skim. Its now 7ft 8" by 16ft.

Ljt can you give me a link to your wall lights please? I'm looking for something similar.
Ta!

They were from B&Q. Here They are a bit delicate being plaster and they mark easily if you leave them unpainted!

Yeah dfc is bad on panasonics. I cringe every time the camera pans across someone's face.

Aside from that what did you think of the gt60? Was it just the dfc that put you off?

It went back after 2 days, every time the camera pans across someone's face its a purple/green mess, on a stationery object it picture quality was excellent and the blacks were great. I tried to find a sammy PS55F8500 but couldn't find one

New TV, same as woppy had.

Seem to have resolved the juddering on it simply by putting it into game mode, i watched a football match last night and the motion was very smooth on it, smoother even than my old LG plasma that replaced.

I can put up with judder on tv shows, if movies and football is smooth ill keep it, ill test more over the weekend before deciding. Feel i should have gone bigger though so it may go back.

Got my cables all tidied up to make my Set up a bit more representable.

Current set up

Panasonic Viera TH42PX80
Onkyo 605
Audica CX3 5.1
Van Damme 2x2.5mm Blue
HTPC - just running Windows 7 as was my main PC, going to move to XBMC or Plex at some point
PS3
SkyHD+

All cables are routed in trunking round the room, so nice and covered up without the faff of taking up the laminate etc.

Only issues is I need a bigger TV now it is all set up! :D

Just touching on the oled vs plasma thing again.

For me personally this review highlights reasons that I went for plasma over oled

http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/lg-55ec9300-201410203929.htm

While the contrast performance is incredible, and ultimately oled WILL be not IF, the superior technology for videophiles, as it stands the flagship plasma were overall better.

Plus seeing uniformity like this on dark shades would send my ocd into overdrive

I've gone through exchanges on amoled phones for uniformity issues, they've always suffered from it on dark shades, and even slight tinting and non uniform whites is common.

Transpired mine was even worse than this so its in process of being swapped for a 65 inch 4k sammy instead.

Just got a new TV so our setup is now:

LG 42LB650V 42" LED 3D Smart TV
LG BD-370 Blu-Ray player (DVD region free hack done)
Sony STR-DB870 Surround amp
Sony SA-WMSP3 Active Subwoofer
4 x Sony SS-MSP2 Satelite speakers
Sony SS-CNP2 Center Speaker
Acer Laptop via HDMI as a HTPC

Picture is not very good sorry:
