Post Your Home Cine & HiFi Kit...

well the LG i had was curved (55") and i thought it was a waste of time, on the 65" sitting right in front you cant really noticed that its curved so again i think its a bit of a waste of time, i wasnt bothered about curved but the price on the curved model was considerably cheaper than the non curved version, hence going for that one.

Its a lot of tv for the money ill say that much, 65", 4k, 500gb usb3.0 hard disk, £260 soundbar with the samsung cashback all for under two grand.

How did it feel setting it up on the unit? Light? A little bit of flex? Or is it quite sturdy?

On the 65" Sammy its solid, the LG oled 55" i had actually flexed like a piece of card, it was incredibly thin and light.

How far away do you sit from it?

The room is 12 foot wide, so probably where the couch is and the tv out a bit from the back its about 9-10 feet.

I only had it on for half an hour setting it up this morning but it has certainly wowed me far more than the oled LG, stuck on netflix 4k and tried breaking bad which is a remaster and also a LG demo I downloaded in 4k.

I also tried regular netflix (monsters inc) and it looked pretty excellent in 1080p, havent mucked about with the actual colours yet.

The size pre-conversion dimensions were 8ft by 16ft 4". It was am integral garage so already double brick and insulated so I only lost a few inches to the plasterboard/skim. Its now 7ft 8" by 16ft.

They were from B&Q. Here They are a bit delicate being plaster and they mark easily if you leave them unpainted!

Hi Mate,

Roughly what did it cost to do if you don't mind me asking?

Looks great by the way!

Sorry about the late reply! The actual building work to get the room ready for decoration (inc special down lights due to the insulation in the ceiling void) come to roughly £7500

Furniture about £1000

The equipment total (not including the TV as it was pinched from the living room :D ) was roughly £2500 (speakers/av receiver/screen/projector/wiring)

After 12 years I've finally replaced my AV receiver with an AV pre/pro unit. It is definitely more substantial than the old SR4200, problem is even though it is quite shallow for a modern AV unit, it's still a tad deep to allow adequate room for plugs once the rack is pushed back towards the wall. The good news is that it freed up a shelf as the luxman integrated amp and the sonnifex balancing converter were no longer needed. If my xonar essence st is still causing ground loop headaches after this point, i'll be using optical only now i have a free port.

I've not run the 7701 for long enough yet to give an decent judgement on it. Initial thoughts are that is significantly quieter regarding hum and hiss and it is certainly well made with a nice remote. I didn't finish rebuilding it last night, got to midnight and got it in a state that allows it to work and called it quits. Got to wait till gone 7 tonight before I'm back from work to finish the job.

It's a fair bit bigger than the old SR even though it handles less of the load. (weighs 100g more too)

Using it with a pair of tannoy 10" super red studio monitors and a panasonic 50" UT50 plasma.
