Post Your Home Cine & HiFi Kit...

I have done some music room upgrades in 2016, basically upgraded everything. At one point all my cd's and records were in the loft but I've really started to love music again in the last 12 months. The cheapo Cd rack is full so the rest are downstairs, could probably fill another 2 of them racks.

SL-BD22 Turntable
ST-GT550 Tuner
SL-PS840 CD Player
SU-A900mk2 Amplifier
Q Acoustic 1030i Speakers
Sennheiser HD650 headphones

If you haven't already guessed I do like my Technics stuff, I am not really sure why, I think it's because I like gadgety techy stuff with flashing lights and buttons ect, I find their stuff quite qwerky. Even though I have owned nicer sound stuff (Marantz, Rotel, Arcam ect). Guess I just like the brand. All of my stuff was from Ebay/Gumtree and cost no more then £400

That a fantastic setup!!

Might change my Sansui setup for the technics! Already got the Technics turntable

I think back in the day sansui were better, not too sure
I am on the look out for a sensible priced SL1210, the BD22 is ok for now but it's too light for my liking I like a heavy turn table

I finally got my BDI stand delivered on Wednesday morning. Last night I set about to put it together and get it all set up. However I noticed a small chip (about 1-2mm, so quite small) on it right on the front edge, to say I'm gutted is an understatement. The stand is top quality and (call me weird) smells fantastic. I can't wait till it's all done and finished.

I've emailed the retailer and so far they've offered £40 off, I've told them that it's not acceptable and I want a replacement delivered. Am I being too harsh here? It cost me £1100 in the sale IIRC.

So his setup is now...

55" Samsung curved UHDTV, not sure on model number.
2 x Wilson Benesch Discovery speakers
PMC Center speaker
Yamaha Amplifier (not sure on model)
PS4
Samsung Bluray player.

He uses Spotify via the PS4 and CDs for audio.

Superb setup.. wish I knew more on the subject but figured you guys here would appreciate this setup!

You biamping? What speakers with?

Yea using them in bi-amp. Had the original P500 for many many years, recently came across another pretty cheap so thought why not :)

Gonna replace a few of the caps inside after reading a few guides, also having a look into upgrading some stuff in the DAC too.

Only have Wharfedale 9.1's at the moment, but they do a good enough job for budget HiFi, used to have a pair of Castle ISIS that i loved but lost. Wouldn't mind getting another pair of those instead of the diamonds.

I have an update on my BDI stand and the chip.

DEAR MR
Further to your email we had a response from the manufactures as below and confirm so that we can inform the manufactures .

If you want to keep the stand as it is they can offer £125.00 and if they replace the top panel they will give the panel and £50.00 for the inconvenience of him and fitting it

Hello

We do have a top panel which we can FedEx to your customer if, you would like to offer that to them.

The panel does come off very easily via 8 cam locks and the new one will slot into place.

We will also offer some compensation of £50 for the inconvenience of changing the top panel.

If the customer wishes to keep the original, we can offer a touch up pen and £125.

Please advise what you would like us to do.

It's been going on since Friday and I'm starting to get a little fed up. Is it a reasonable offer to have a new top panel delivered and I fit it, along with the £50 compensation? I won't be accepting the touch up offer and £125.

For clarity, the stand comes from the factory with it completely assembled except for the feet. So the stand comes with the top panel on.

I took them up on their offer and specified before 9am delivery. The courier dropped the top off this morning at 7.15. Will fit it later this morning or even tonight. They said I should ring back when it's done and they'll collect the old top if I want.

And only if you don't end up with a huge slab of wood to take to the dump.
Why would I take it to the dump when I just have to ring the council and they'll collect it?

I took some updated photos of my system in it's (and our) new home. It's got a decent space to breathe now, and it sounds fantastic.

Equipment:

Kef Reference 3.2 mains
Kef R200C centre
Monitor Audio Bronze B2 rears (soon to be upgrading them to some Kef Q100 or Q300s I think)
BK Monolith sub
Audiolab 8200DQ preamp
Meridian 557 power amp
Onkyo TX-SR705 receiver
Squeezebox Touch
YouView box
Raspberry Pi for Kodi (out of sight)
Apple TV 4
Panasonic TX-L50E6B 50" LED LCD

The light in the alcove is a Philips LivingColours remote controlled RGB LED, and I'm using LightwaveRF components to remotely control everything else in the room, with Megaman dimmable LEDs in the ceiling lights and an Ikea Hektor lamp with 'vintage style' LED bulb.

Excuse the colour of the carpet and the general unfinished state of the room - we're awaiting our new sofa and a couple of other small bits of furniture.

Granite chopping boards under the speakers to improve stability and reduce coupling from the wooden floor and building:

Router taking pride of place (Virgin Media modem terminates here and it was the easiest way of hiding all the cabling!), and you can also see the paving slab under the sub which does a fantastic job of decoupling it:

Very happy with the overall layout and only need to do a few more very minor tweaks.
