Thanks. :)
Is it digital only? & what inputs/outputs does it have?
It does DAB and FM (no AM or waves)

Has 1 set phono, optical and co-ax out and one set phono in. When the tuner is on standby the phono in will be played through the amp when "tuner/DAB" is selected.

I love how the Azur stuff looks. Very very smart bits of kit.
Nice little speakers, the 700s. I had a pair for a few years. They always impressed me when I went back to them after listening to other speakers.
Small? mine are the really, really old version (260 (w) x 460 (h) x 245 (d) ) and blooming huge :p. Like you said though, the newer versions are a lot smaller.

They're currently on the floor, so I need to get a set of stands- {edit: made some /\ } but they're rather large for that. Great sound though, even despite being near 30 years old and dogily refoamed.

Wow that CA stuff looks stunning. I love the finish on the faceplates. Only problem is the HUUGE CA writing and other writing. It would look very stealthy if those wern't on there.

Enjoy

I was quite impressed with it. Just turned it on and it scanned all my local stations automatically. Setting up presents was very simple (keeps separate lists for FM/DAB). Reception for both is very good; I just stuck the wire aerial up beside the window.

It comes with another remote that does the amp+tuner, so depending on the 540c that could be your 2nd or 3rd .

Other than that I don't really know what to say; it sounds good to me and stacks nicely with the other Cambridge gear. If you have any more specific questions i'll try to answer them.
Yeh the 640t is nice. I used to use one in my bedroom setup before I went back to FM. I am sure the tuner itself can perform very well, but I couldn't stand to listen to DAB, the compression on 90% of the stations is awful :( Tune into Radio3 (or whatever) on FM and on DAB and then switch between them using the mode button. You should hear quite a big difference..

Just picked up my new TV yesterday, Panasonic 42PX60, loving it!

Have you actually put the TV on the centre speaker or is it wallmounted?

Looks very awkward. is it secure? i'd be scared of knocking it off.

Yup its simply sat on top of the speaker. Cant really wallmout it as Im only renting at the mo. Its stable enough on there. Not ideal and doesnt look superb but its ok.

That cant be good for the speaker.
Why not have the TV on the stand, then the speaker in front of it? Theres enough of the bezel on the TV so that the speaker doesnt get in the way of the screen.

Cant see it doing the speaker any harm. Its very solid, and Id have thought if anything it would help mass load it and damp any vibrations. I could put the speaker in front of the TV now (I couldnt do that with my previous set) but it would stretch a little too far forward, almost off the front of the stand which I think would look even worse.

Forgot to add the HC setup..

avunit1.jpg

Panasonic TX28PM1
Sony SS-MB250H fronts (cheap and cheerful but are heavy duty enough to take a lot of the bass duty for the HC amp)
Mission M2SC Center Speaker
Yamaha RX-V357 HT Amp
Lite-On DVD Recorder
Panasonic DVD-S29 DVD Player
AKAI VCR, Xbox

Pic is a bit out of date, I now have a Thomson Sky+ box - rest is the same though

avunit2.jpg

Mission M70 rears... blatantly much better than the Sony's, but would be blown to bits if I used them for fronts.

Have no longer got the technics system that you can see the speaker for in the pic, now have the seperates hifi shown a few posts back.

avunit5.jpg

Sub - Yamaha SW-P130. It's a baby, but it hits low and its fine for a small room like mine. Also pictured is the beer fridge. Pretty much essential in any HC!!

It wouldnt look that bad.
Backtrack in the thread to my pics. My speaker is setup like that, and it looks fine. Imo. :)

Here's my recently put together listening setup :)

Some of you really need to read up on room acoustics. Some of the speaker positioning here is just unbelievable, it's the sort of thing you’d expect to see from a non-enthusiast crowd who doesn't really care one way or another. Shoving speakers hard up against walls, rear or side, and on hard wooden surfaces is rarely a good idea (some speakers are designed to be mounted close to a rear wall as it's presence is incorporated into the speakers acoustic balance, but not many, certainly not most of the cheaper stuff here). You could make what you have sound so much better by paying a bit of attention to the speaker positioning, seriously, it will make am massive difference.

For example, just on this page alone M3G4UK's set-up, what were you thinking when you stuffed those speakers in around the tv like that? ...are you looking for sound quality or just nouise ?

I don't have a huge amount of space to play with myself, and no doubt space is what a lot of you are going to cite as a reason for some of this awful speaker positioning. If you are really into trying to reproduce the best possible sound quality, or if you are just into hifi for the sake of hifi ....you arrange the room around your hifi, not the other way around. It's the only way to do it for a lot of people as most just don't have dedicated listening rooms or huge amounts of space.

Any comments on my setup from the previous page? Interested in any possible improvements? :)

Looks to me like you actually have some idea about what you are doing. Yours is one of the better setup, setups here by the looks of it. You may find you get some resonance on the left there because of the proximity of the left speaker to that cavity under the stairs, otherwise it looks you you've got the space to play around a bit, which I gather you have already. It looks like you are making the best of the rarely ideal rooms we have anyway :)

I'm making the assumption that the distance between your seating position and the speakers is not greater than the distance between the left and right speaker.
