Post Your Home Cine & HiFi Kit...

Looks nice. I really need to get someone to explain to me what all this Bi-Amping stuff is. Why is it so much better than having one amp? :D

Basically you are sharing the load between two amps rather than 1.

For example, with my set up I have 1 stereo amplifier handling the treble (high frequencies) and the other stereo amplifier handling the bass (low frequencies). Thus, because each amp is handling it own load the sound can be more controlled, and thus doesn't strain at higher volumes.

The process of separating low and high frequency signals in a channel and sending them to individual amplifiers and speakers. This allows use of speakers optimized to certain frequencies to play only those frequencies creating clearer, higher fidelity playback.

You can buy the fascia and modules in B&Q if I remember correctly. (I got them through CPC though!)

Easy to wire up if you know what you're doing, and I found that it just makes things easier as I've hidden the splitters in the cupboard so the wires head back to a place out of sight! :)

I'm pretty sure to do all of that you would need an active crossover.

Thought I'd post a pic of mine in it's current state... DVD player is getting on a bit now but I've also got a Samsung HD860 which is used for upscaling. Pixel Magic mediabox on its way for more HD content, until I decide on a HD-DVD/Blueray replacement.

Had to do some slight DIY to the stand to be able to fit the media centre into the middle, but it all turned out good in the end.

Toshiba 37WLT68
Xbox 360
Antec Fusion Media Centre (just the case at the mo to fill the gap, nothing inside yet!)
Pioneer XV-DV55 Home Cinema set-up

Just got a Samsung Bordeaux LE32R74BDX 32" HD Freeview last night, have it set up in my bedroom and it looks great and the picture is fantastic. :D
It's a mess just now, haven't had time to tidy all the cables. I haven't got a good camera so the pictures are quite low quality. :(

My parents got the 37" version of that, looks awsome, especially with your setup as a computer monitor :), only problem I find with it is when watching TV on Sky, picture is like a low quality JPEG :s, I am gonna save up and buy a 26" version if they exist.

The speakers for the surround sound are built into the ceiling.

The whole house it networked, including a sound server which can pump music to any room in the house..

i can do a whole thread on it including specs etc if anyone is interested. But the above is the tv setup in the lounge/movie room.

B&W speakers are the sexiest hi-fi kit I've seen in a while. Expensive though!

Considering the house is networked etc, I'd have thought you could have tidied the cables up behind the tv some more :p

Anyway, yeah wouldn't mind a little more info on that too, give me a bit more info for when I set up mine after the loft conversion (hopefully) goes through

TBH those particular B&W speakers are quite reasonable, certainly no-where near as expensive as some as the speakers in this thread.
