Post Your Home Cine & HiFi Kit...

Partially agreed.
The REL did go to 20hz in my room as I’d measured it and my speakers can’t do that.
What they won’t do is distort. They’ll simply roll off and not playback a 20hz signal.

What you appear to be missing is:
- I don’t care. The bass that I am getting is quite adequate, and won’t upset my neighbours as much
- if I’m going to spend that amount of cash, it’ll be to overhaul my main speakers with a new set of crossovers
- synergy. The REL is going because it’s not fast enough to keep up with the main speakers anymore, as the new power amp has that much more grip.
- yes I could use a new sub for movies only, but as my outlay for AV audio has been a couple of hundred quid on top of the stereo, I just don’t have the mindset for spending more on something of secondary importance
- movies do sometimes have music in their mix in addition to low frequency explosions and earthquakes. If anything, I think that a sub with poor synergy will make those musical elements sound worse

I don't get "buy CD transport, DAC, power supply, analogue pre amp, crossover network cards, active biamping speakers, four monoblocs, speaker isolator stands, dedicated mains supply for hifi....and for movies lowest end subwoofer, non matching center, low end TV, tiny surround speakers"

My hifi is a good one, so is the home cinema and so is the the pc system.

Unfortunately since HT has many more speakers it'll cost more (two speakers versus 11 plus subs)

and that’s why I don’t sit here trying to tell you what to spend your money on.

Additionally, I have a box that does the job of preamp and another that does the power amp bit. That’s it.

There is no crossover network cards, x4 monoblocks, analogue preamp etc. Are you sure that you’re reading this thread?

Let's not start with the insults guys, but likewise @hornetstinger you need to start evidencing your knowledge and perhaps show your hifi setup?
I apologise. Although I should add last time he tried to claim a bunch of online pics as his own and I recognised the for sale ad he used I called him out then on it and that was donkeys years ago and still no pics of his setup.

No I distinctly remember you posted a pic of celestions A2. It was an actually a for sale AD that I had seen months prior. You claimed these were your speakers. Nowhere in your post did you ever say these were not yours. You also posted a bunch of other hi fi pics like a dual subwoofer setup. Only when you were pressed further did you reveal that none of any of the pics you posted were actually yours at all. You were actually posting other peoples pics without their permission and claiming these are the speakers I have or this is the amp I have. There was no disclaimer these were pics were other peoples or you were posting pics so you could show people what you have but without posting your actual setup. I can respect that if you don't want people to see what you got. That's legit.

But that's not really what shot yourself reputation wise here with long term members of Hifi and home cinema forum. You have a distinct posting style. Member A ask for an upgrade for about 200-500 and you recommend a boulder or a sub worth several thousand. And quite often than not when they tell you this you quite often ignore this. I have seen posts where you have more than on one occasion been more than helpful but then follow it up with some link to some esoteric and high end purchase which is of no value to the member you are trying to help. And let me let you in a little secret high end hifi /home cinema owners don't recommend their stuff to people who are only to looking to upgrade 200-500 wise which leads me to conclude you don't have any actual real experience of real high end gear through ownership.

and yet through the years you keep repeating the same posting the same posting style and the same attitude. The members see it but the mods don't. And I have worded this politely. See you again in 5 years.

I am thinking of getting a 65in TV. I was anyway.

This is much bigger than my current TV (46).
Having seen my parents, which I always thought was a 70+ I am concerned it is too big.

The TV will only be a foot back from the 46 (wall mount) .
But also I remember thinking the 46 was too big when deciding between 42 and 46.

Do you always get used to a TV?

When I get home ill measure seat to TV. But I think it's 2-3m.

How far do you guys with the big boys sit?
Yeah I'm saying 65 is big!

I'm not a serial upgrader of av stuff. So spending 1.5k I want to get it right.

(I will post pics of my real set up once done)

We are 3m away from a 55 and will be going to 65 in the near future having had the 55 for 3 years. Yes you do always get used to a screen and for longevity purposes, always go a size bigger than you originally go for.

Well, that’s my method.

Stop overthinking it all and get the 65", you won't regret it imo.

Going to go into richer sounds when I'm back in Cardiff and ask for a demo. (I will buy from them). It's always hard to replicate your own home. But hopefully they will have an area that isn't as bright as the sun.
