Post Your Home Cine & HiFi Kit...

I think mine was just a standard lead but I will have to check when I go home.

My RA comment was not judging you or anything like that. And I know you got a lot of flak before, so I don't want you to think I am coming at you. I understand, I went though that phase as well.

I have not had the pleasure of hearing a set of Fyne audio speakers. My speaker experience is limited to only the more known brands or more mainstream brands. I only discovered the Martens brand of speaker by accident. A less known brand compared to big companies like Bowers, Kef etc.

Post a photo of the lead connecting to your block (I can tell what they are), if your running anything less than a 8TC you will restrict the block.

Yes I know you were not judging me, it's ok thank you.

The Fyne Audio's use a point source driver, so vocals and instruments are very close in. Almost a little like having studio monitors, also very easy speakers to drive. I would like to hear Bowers at some point, apparently you need big power to drive these I read.

Only the D1/D2 are hard to drive the older ones are not as bad. The newer ones like D3/D4 and D5 I have no idea what they are like to drive as I can't stand the sound of them.

I've now have a Technics SL-1200G (Grand class) along with Ortofon Bronze cartridge. It's still in the box, aim to set this up next week.

Will be using the phono stage in the Yamaha A-S1200, apparently Yamaha did a good job on the phono stage for an integrated amp, but will find out soon when the Technics is connected and settled in.

I was after a Technics SL-1200G for some time, considered the less expensive 1200GR2 but knew I would regret it afterwards. I had already made my mind up, but what sealed it was Chasing the Dragon was using one at the North West audio show (pics below). Their setup was one of the best sounding at the show, I was expecting a far more expensive turn table but surprised to see a Technics in use!

Just for clarification the table I have is from a retailer, not the one in these photos. Again posting these photos as it was hearing a 1200G on this setup that sealed my decision on buying one.

Nice demo setup

Those are Falcon Acoustics IMF 200s I believe?

Loving my IMF 100s

Yes there IMF 200's. That was one of the best setup's at the show, it was a big sound that filled that area. It was very energetic and live sounding. What was surprising was the cost of the setup was relativity cheap compared to other high end setups.

Finally glad to be able to sit down again! Been without a TV for 7 weeks as had a garage conversion done and some internal changes. Stairs used to be in the lounge but have now been relocated, so can center the TV rather than it being off to the side.

Nothing too exciting in comparison to some setups on here but my 65" Sony A95L arrived today and will be pairing it alongside the Sony Bravia quad speakers and the SW5 sub.

Was thinking about going down the AVR route but wife didn't want ceiling speakers or even multiple ones for that matter, so this was the compromise and to be fair it's not a bad little system in the right setup, with a minimalist look and less is more for me as I have a 15 month old who has just started to walk which is now carnage, hah!

Here's a few pictures below. First one was me just testing the quads, just to make sure I was happy with them. Even in the odd setup, it still performed really well and that was without the TV acting as a center channel. I was using a 55" Panasonic JZ1500 with a Sennheiser Ambeo plus prior, so it's still a step up for me.

Last picture is of the room in a semi finished state. Although the floor looks similar it's actually ltv glue down now instead of click. Wife liked the original colour so went for something similar. Seats do recline as well and are very comfy. Plan is to do acupanels with a TV panel then a unit with a fire inside. Not sure if I am going to go floating or free standing yet, off to see some today.

Anyway, probably boring you now but will post some pictures up once it's all finished. Plan is to have it complete by the 10th August, so will keep you updated.

Cheers.

GUTTED the wife and kids are away so thought I'd get my old Yamaha DSP A1 and speakers out the loft For a week of music nights and it was going great for 3 hrs then just switched off. It will turn on but then goes off again right away.

Unplugged all cables and blown out with a can of air but still the same.

Ideas?

How many years was it in the loft unused?

after that many years, capacitors probably dried out. That was a good amp at the time- flagship model- but it's now out of date. If it has 5.1/7.1 input you could use BD player 5.1/7.1 analogue outputs into it to get latest DTS/DD HD audio.

Probably will need recapping, at least PSU and possibly the large amplifier capacitors

To get similar amp now you'd be looking at Denon 8500 or Yamaha A8A

Might have found prob as someone else had same issue
I have one of these I've not used in years, stored in the box in a bedroom as I was never strong enough to lift it into the loft (not that I suspect makes a difference) Could you give a hint in case mine behaves the same way? TIA

Yamaha DSP A1 is a Home Cinema Classic bit of kit, built like a tank. I got a demo of one in someones house in the late 90's, I was stunned back then. Couldn't afford one though at the time. AFAIK the display goes on them after a few years, when working properly it will run rings around most modern AV Receivers in Stereo. as @hornetstinger said, not a good idea to leave it unused for a long time. It might be worth saving if you get it repaired for a reasonable price.

There's quite a detailed thread but some replaced the c21 and ic5 capacitors and that sorted it. Someone near where I work does this sort of thing so I'm going to get it fixed

I also have a spare Yamaha rxv 1073 so tried that but it wasn't near the quality of the A1 in stereo.

First time posting my setup here I think but it's had multiple revisions over the years, everytime I end up getting a new pair of speakers, sub amp etc then it slowly shuffes down to my PC or my girlfriends PC.

Speakers on the stands are a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 9's which I've had for years, I've actually got a pair of Monitor Audio Bronzes on my PC & I need to swap them around once the replacement for those have arrived (Q-Accoustic i3010's). Sub in the corner acting as the plant stand is also Wharfedale, the model escapes me but it's only a few months old as my previous sub broke (well its not broken broken just refuses to turn off without unplugging it from the wall). Amp is a glorious Camridge Audio AXR85, I bought it only 2 weeks after it was released from my local Richer Sounds! I only originally wanted the AX25 but realised I needed (ideally) a dedicated sub out, bit chunkier but shes glorious & above her is the Topping DAC. Completley overkill but its just big and heavy (solid machines aluminium) and all the switches have a real weight to them, its just fantastic fun sitting there switching it on and off (sad I know).

I've actually only just finished adding banana plugs to the end of all the cable runs, my next thought is going to be mounting the Diamonds to the walls (when I replace them in their current position with the Bronzes) in a surround sound configuration if I can work out how to do that! :)

Ordered the mission 778x stereo amp so will be testing that for the next few days. See how it pairs up with my mission 780se from 1991. Yes I hang on to stuff
