You can do it without an app... phone has to be connected to the PC though.

I made most of them so i can pick and choose whatever i want...only got it configured on saturday so still playing around - seeing what works and what doesnt...all part of trial and error.
i dont feel the need to make something overly resemble a particular action, thats what the text is for.

and like i said....why stick to the norm when the systems there to be abused and built upon in a hundred different ways? you just end up with a phone that looks pretty much like everyone else has and theres no fun in that.

chances are in a months time it will be completely different, im already starting to look at porting an lg home end to the desire.

That's what android is, you can do what you want with it, customize it to your liking for everything.

It's a nice layout, but personally it's not my sort of thing, I prefer khaaans type of layout, modified a wee bit though.

Robbie G does the android SDK screenshot thing not work for you at all? No need to root at all to use it, plus it's the only way you will be able to take screenshots without rooting.

This thread has turned into the "slagging off everyones screenshot thread" now :p

The beauty of a rooted phone is that i can try what i like when i like and after 6 months of the same icons/layout everyone in the country has i fancied a change....no doubt in a month or twos time i will switch again.
so when you decide to root please do post your desktop.

Certainly one that betters most in here anyway. His dekstop is certainlty different, not the usual guff of weather widget, music widget, power widget, and for that reason alone, I like it because it's different.

From what I gather it's a relatively simple process? I can perfectly understand how you might think it intellectually challenging, though ;).

And different isn't always better.

I was wondering guys, had my DHD for about 3 months, but could some one please point me in the direction of a "complete idiots guide" to personalising android?

As i play around with it but dont really make any changes lol and i just dont like the feel of the HTC stuff on it

Start off by downloading and using Launcher Pro and go from there :).
 
Not really a problem when you know where they are but having them barely visible helps keep desktop clutter to a minimum. Mainly wanted something like that as an indication to when things were switched on because I've got a habit of leaving things on :o
