** POTENTIALLY THE BEST GAMING MONITORS YET!! ** Acer 34" Ultra-wides

Sigh wanted to check with CS first but live chat doesn't seem to be working, within 30 seconds of doing that all 3 B Grades sold  typical.

Could also be monitors returned because they couldn't overclock very well; it's a £500 gamble.

Do you feel lucky?

I'll soon find out later today :) end of the day should still get the acer warrenty which i will be reg with and maybe even take the extra 30 quid to extend it to 5 years.

Unboxed and so far its fine :D no dead pixels etc and the refresh rate goes to 95 not 100 which might be why but i dont mind in the slightest :D Very happy so far.

I have a 29" dell ultrawide at the min and it still shocked me at the size of the thing!!

Been playing with it now for the last hour or so and can't find a fault with it at all what a bargain :D

Great deal then IMO. 95 vs 100 isn't a noticeable difference in the slightest, I'd be upset if I paid full price and it didn't hit 100 but at 50% off, totally fine.

Great looking monitor - just waiting for in to arrive now. Fingers crossed it all goes to plan!

Nice I would not mind losing 5hz and saving the best part of 500 squid

makes you think why they cost near £1000 in the first place. OCUK must have done a mega deal to get them. I would be sorely peed off to pay that much when others seem to have got a near perfect one for about half price!

Sad to say I returned my X34 via DSR since it had a dead pixel that I just couldn't get over. Initially I could overlook it, but once I found its exact location my eyes would always go hunting for it.

I'm going for the ROG ultrawide next month, and am hoping that OCUK will offer a pixel perfect guarantee like they do for some others in the ROG range.

Indeed, and it's quite obvious they are not worth that. When you look at the nuts and bolts of the X34, there's no arguing the fact that it's overpriced, but at the end of the day it's worth the highest price that people are willing to pay, and clearly plenty of people did. Same will be true of the Asus, even though it's the same monitor in different clothes.

I just think the technology is moving at such a pace at the moment that paying a new product price premium for such an old panel (relatively speaking) is not for me.

For years the 30" 1600p panel was king of the hill and in the last couple of years we've seen UHD, true 4K, 5K, ultrawides, curved and combinations thereof, now with various flavours of sync. Next step finally should be the OLEDs we've been expecting for so long, once the yields become viable for mainstream mass-market monitors.

2016 should be an exciting year, if the pound starts to recover against the dollar.
