** POTENTIALLY THE BEST GAMING MONITORS YET!! ** Acer 34" Ultra-wides

What FOV to use on 3 x X34 ?

I'm currently using 70 (by editing the file, I think the in-game setting only goes up to 65 or thereabouts) but it's down to personal preference.

EDIT: just realised you said 3x - to be honest I don't think that width would suit the game. For one thing, the objects on the outermost monitors would have the barrel(?) distortion which already happens on a single ultrawide.

Ive got mine overclocked to 100hz and its been fine but Ive just been sat watching youtube in a window on the desktop and the screen went black for a second and came back on with the DP sign in the middle like its been disconnected. Anyone know if this is just the result of the overclock being too high maybe or a bigger problem? Ive knocked the OC down to 90hz and see what happens but this is the first time its happened in 3 weeks and its been OC'd to 100hz the whole time

It COULD be the cable... if you have another, swap it and see if that helps. The problem here is no-one really knows what running a monitor with a 66% overclock 24/7 will do for the reliability and longevity of it. We're in somewhat uncharted waters with the X34 and upcoming Asus model (which uses the same panel). It's always been a concern of mine, but only time will tell.

ive recently encountered an issue where no input is detected. When its turned on at source, the display does not pick it up unless i unplug and replug it. Can't find this issue mentioned much online, any ideas?

Ive used to shoe lace length one that came with it to see if its any better off for it. I do love this monitor however there are a lot of what ifs that go with with it

Got delivery of my B grade X34 today and it is looking great. As Leon4112 has found, my monitor flickers when set to 100hz, but is totally stable at 95hz.

As the monitor was fully boxed and still wearing all of its packaging, manual bad still sealed, all cables, etc present, I reckon it was 'failed' by Acer for not hitting 100hz.

There are no dead pixels and, as far as I can tell, absolutely no BLB. :)

I'm a happy chappy with only the sound to sort.

I want to try out the built in speakers to see what quality they are. However, I can't seem to figure out ho to get sound through the DP cable from my 980Ti. Any suggestions?

Re-install the Nvidia drivers mate. Perform a "clean" install and ensure the audio is ticked :)

Thanks for the help. after a quick reboot it all worked fine, so my searching for an answer seemed to be "turn it off and then on again!"
working fine now, but, like everything, I am yearning for a decent set of speakers that won't look awful or clutter the desk with wires.

Bought an Acer X34 on friday here in Denmark, returned it monday. Mine had massive backlight bleed and coil whine on bright images. No problems reaching 100hz though. Very disappointed. And having tried the "ultrawide experience" now, I just don't think its worth the huge price premium over a normal 16:9 gaming monitor. When playing my sim racing games, all the action and all my eyesight was directed on the central 1:3 of the screen, the rest just felt like wasted space. So a 34" ultrawide is definitely not a true alternative for a proper triple setup, if you want immersion.

The technician taking care of my RMA told me they had received a message from Acer, stating that the backlight bleed issues in particular, will be sorted on the next batch of monitors arriving in feb/march. That should be comforting to know for people who've ordered the Asus PG348Q, because QC definitely IS the explanation for the late release.

Ah the infamous Acer new batch strikes again, remember on here people we're waiting month's for the this 'new batch' that was supposedly going to sort the issues out they had with their new monitors. Think that was for the 27 / 28" Monitor though.

Yeah, I'm not sure I buy that for a second... heard it all before with the PG279Q which came out wayyyyy after Acer's XB270HU, and everyone was convinced it would rectify all the issues the Acer had... but it was just as bad. I'll believe it when it I see it, but I am not holding out any hope that the Asus PG348Q will do anything better than the X34, it will just be cosmetics.

Yeah I doubt it. BLB was an issue on the original LG UM95, and it was an issue on the Dell version of this panel as well. Just something you have to accept with bigger panel sizes I guess.

BLB is bad on many of 16:9 IPS monitors as well though (the aforementioned XB270HU and PG279Q being notable examples)... I think it's just a combination of poor panel and overall build quality, and lack of QC... plus they seem to have cottoned on to the fact people will pay exorbitant prices regardless for anything new and shiny lol!

The one that's popped up on the bay, one of these two you got?

Just wondering as you don't mention in the listing that it'll be 3rd hand to whoever wins if it is yourself.

Wouldn't call it 3rd hand. OC don't state reason for return and I feel it is fair to check all the content before reselling. This unit has been out of the box for 10 minutes just to find out if there is any fault/imperfection so I can be accurate with my description. It has been literally just 10 minutes out of it's box then put carefully back.

I would not sell something unless I am sure it is fully working and there is nothing missing.

If you call this 3rd hand then all the manufacture refurbished items should be described as 3rd hand too as they check and test their returns?

Really tempted to get an X34, but I'm currently using a Sony KDL-42W705B and I was wondering if Gsync, higher res and higher refresh rate are worth the reduction in physical size of it? I've never seen anything higher than 60hz so I'm not sure if it'll truly be worth it for me, any recommendations?

It's so tempting, wish I could see it in person first but I don't think there's any shops around me that have PC monitors set up to have a look at, shall have a shop around online tomorrow!... Well, Today I guess.
