** POTENTIALLY THE BEST GAMING MONITORS YET!! ** Acer 34" Ultra-wides

The one that's popped up on the bay, one of these two you got?

Just wondering as you don't mention in the listing that it'll be 3rd hand to whoever wins if it is yourself.

The current owner couldn't say this as he doesn't know for 100% sure he is not the 4th, 5th or 6th owner.

And even buying something brand new doesn't guarantee you don't accidently get a 'second hand' one, of which some people wouldn't even notice, so again you run the risk of supplying inaccurate information.

I would rather have a good description of the current state of the monitor than anything else if buying second hand.

Freesync versions on the bgrade section now for £599. £99 more than the gync we had last week :D

yeah i saw those. Might be tempted if they drop to 50% like the g-sync's, but the issues are probably greater than the g-sync versions - i don't recall any posts about not getting to 75Hz, so they are most likely BLB or pixel :(

Doesn't happen often when OC runs such a massive discount as they did on Dell 34", Acer x34 and many others so I doubt we will see freesync one 1/2 price now. They probably had full warehouse of returns after very busy Christmas period as it usually is with retailers and it make sense to shift it fast when quiet times are ahead.

But I agree it eliminates <100Hz returns and lower Hz may also mean less reports of coil whines too. FreeSync also rules out scan lines that have been reported with some models. (Seen only in Nvidia demo when running low fps G-Sync).

So yeah, high likelihood of pixel or BLB. Not sure if "wake-up from sleep" issue was present in FreeSync version?

Or possibly from Crossfire owners having difficulties running FreeSync?

Saying that, BLB does improve with rubbing the area with cloth for few minutes and also improves with time as the usage and heat possibly helps over-tightened parts of panel to loose as metal expands so panel becomes more consistent. I really think it's like with speakers when they have burn-in period. I am already seeing some improvements in my 100Hz unit after just 1 week or so and it was same with my previous x34.

I believe B grade stock only carries a 90 day warranty as indicated on the website. At a guess it's probably tied to the serial number of the display.

90 Days is what OCUK offer but you will often find that you also get the remaining manufacturers warranty.

eg I bought a B grade EVGA GTX 580 with OCUK 90 day warranty but when I registered it with EVGA I got the full 3 years.

With the X34 only being out in last few months or so you will probably find there is still one and a half years warranty left with Acer. Doesnt matter to Acer whether it was sold as new or b grade its the warranty left according to the serial number.

Varkanoid is right you still get the warranty from the maker. I did with my old screen no problems.

Eg I still managed to reg my b grade x34 with acer and paid for the extra 5 year warranty for 30 quid no problems.

Yeah, I registered my refurbished MSI Z97 Mpower M/B on MSI website for warranty too. Those 90 days on B-Grades only apply to retailer warranty which is otherwise 1 year.

Thats very interesting. I have never looked at B grade at all due to the stated 90 day warranty but if you get the full warranty with the manufacturer then that's no real issue. I normally deal direct with the manufacturer if I have to RMA as its quicker than going through a retailer who only sends it back the manufacturer adding another link in the chain.

You dont get full warranty everytime though. Often its less and sometimes you can get none. Thats the risk you take for getting something cheaper. Although I will state I have had a lot more bargains through b grade than duds.

It depends on manufacture. MSI had month and year of make as part of serial number most manufactures do it that way and serial number is all thats needed to register it. I will find out how it is with Acer. I have feeling Creative don't do this and require date of purchase and it has to be from authorised retailer such as OC. B-Grade or not as long as you have some invoice on hand saying that it came from them.

Edit: actually I now remember RMA my ZxR 2 years ago that I got from bay with no invoice. It was buggy and Creative replaced it no fuss.
