** POTENTIALLY THE BEST GAMING MONITORS YET!! ** Acer 34" Ultra-wides

So no scanlines? I thought everyone suffered from this, or does it just not bother some people? Even Acer have commented on the issue, confirming but as good as washing their hands of it. The new Asus 34" is all but certain to have the same issue also.

"Scanlines are an effect caused by rapidly changing refresh rate. Variations in the refresh rate create an increased holding time that results in the accumulation of an electrical charge. When this charge is released, it causes small variations in the frame that result in faint horizontal lines.

We certainly appreciate everyone’s patience and the feedback that has been provided by many of you. Unfortunately, this is a side effect for cutting edge technology and while there is not a fix to be applied, we will continue to make efforts to minimize and eliminate these types of limitations in future releases."

Shame.

never noticed it on mine - I guess if you look hard enough for it you will see...

Its fine :)

Only thing which winds me up is the coil whine but it only depends on what is on screen.

I've looked for scan lines but couldn't see any. If they are there it ain't an issue for me. If I had any real issues with a near £1000 monitor I would have returned it, as it is I am over the moon with mine and it has opened up a new lease of life on my game library. It's one of my best purchases for 2015. :)

Maybe your all in denial?

I guess they can't all be that bad.

Part of me would still like to get one of these and try my luck!

If I don't like it or it has some problem what are OC like for DSR? Do they pay to get it picked back up?

Tbh CF, it seems like you won't be satisfied with this monitor even if it's nigh-on perfection!! You've been slating it for a while. Is it really fair to expect OcUK to pick up the tab if it's 90% certain that you'll return it?? If you're the fussy type then I wouldn't bother tbh, but in answer to your question then I don't think they do.

Their's definitely a little give and take with these monitors, you'll have to forgive it the odd little issue (with mine it's a little Glow/Bleed, but nothing I can't live with)

Well at this price point I do expect perfection.

I think you'd be quite dumb if you expect anything less.

Good luck with that wait ;)

Maybe OLED will bring what you want...

But why shouldn't you?? The current situation really is a joke, and most people don't even know it. I bought an IPS monitor some 8-9 years ago, an Eizo. Cost me about £700 at the time. It was PERFECT, no bleed, hardly any glow, pixel perfection, and I was very happy. After about 4 and half years, I noticed my panel started to get a bit patchy. I contacted Eizo and as it was still within their 5 year warranty period, they told me to send it in. I did so and was given a brand new replacement panel. Jump forward a decade and you can't even get a perfect panel in the first place, never-mind expect a manufacturer to replace it if and and when it develops issues, except in extreme circumstances.

We have gone so far back in to the stone-age when it comes to monitor quality (with IPS anyway) and customer service, it's genuinely sad.

By this point, I think the manufacturers have cottoned on to the fact most people will accept (and pay) pretty much anything, as long as it's new and shiny, so I'm half expecting them to bring the same sloppy attitude with OLED. Call me a cynic, but it is what it is.

:(
