** POTENTIALLY THE BEST GAMING MONITORS YET!! ** Acer 34" Ultra-wides

strange indeed.
i asked my other half to power it all off at the wall reboot the pc and see if it displayed she said it all came up fine.
and then she shut the pc down and it started to do it again.?
so i have now told her to power off the pc and let me know if the screen starts to flash,
first i thought graphics card
now i wonder if it is the monitor but if it has no signal from graphics and it starts doing it then yeah sounds like the monitor has gone faulty.
and i only got it back in january from acer repair :D
cant win with my pc hardware at the moment ;P

damn..
its just got shipped back for repair
oh well if that is the case... i hope its all good news :D
although my partner said the kids had not touched it
you dont know when your not in the same room all the time i guess.
will update once it returns :)

Ok so I called acer to send my monitor for repair,
They asked me to pay the shipping & I would be fully refunded under warranty.
The first time my monitor went faulty they refunded my shipping costs,
Now acer have emailed me saying they won't refund me
As I'm not in mainland uk?
So where can I go from here as I bought this monitor from ocuk?
Should I send it back to them
Or can I get a refund on this item?
As I refuse to pay to ship a faulty unit to someone to repair it,
Absolutely disgraceful from acer.

As you bought it from OCUK they should sort it. Your contract is with the retailer not the manufacturer, regardless of what retailers tell you.

edit: although if the panel turns out not to be faulty, you should expect to pay shipping both ways imho!

Just an FYI really but I spotted a Korean monitor which is basically the Freesync 75Hz panel, from what I can tell, in a great looking industrial style case on Ebay.com. I bought a 40" UHD monitor from the seller last year as they have a great rep but I'll not divulge more info as this is a competitor to OCUK.

I'd still buy the G-Sync version though as often the sub-par panels end up going through the boutique Korean distributors.

Acer support

Ok so a little update
the person who had originally emailed me saying that they would not refund me has come back and appologised and they are now refunding my shipping
so great i am happy with Acer for doing the right thing,
also i have to say there repair agents i have used in guernsey channel islands
valley computers have been really great with support and updates on my monitor issues,
they have confirmed the main board has gone faulty
and that they could not actually even use any of the front panel buttons,
so what ever caused it to go faulty i am not sure but it was working fine for some months,
main thing is it is being repaired
it could take a couple of weeks but i have had good communications with the people repairing it and they have been very helpful and polite to talk to over the phone
so for all the Acer bashing i have to give them credit on resolving this with minimal fuss.

I posted the pics of mine a few days ago, and even though I was convinced I was sending it back, I've decided to keep it. Lovely panel and aside from the usual IPS issues, it's the best monitor I've ever used - and not just for gaming, but for productivity too.

What's everyone running their gamma at? After a lot of testing I've gone for 2.5 and dark boost set at level 1. This is with brightness at around 36, user profile and colour temperature manual, but basically the warm setting v slightly tweaked.
Gamma at 2.2 is slightly washed out. I wish there was a 2.3 or 2.4 option...

XR34 here

Gamma 2.2 and black level 5 is bang on sRGB 2.2 with on-line tests.

I do use brightness 20 for normal light use though, I really don't get why everyone else's is so high lol I drop down to 16 when dark and have one at 28 for sunny days.

Just seen that the freesync version is £660 now

Very tempted, just wish polaris was here now to drive the 3440x1440 res in games!

Aside from samsung, any word on future 34" screens coming relatively soon?
