Power Tools & General Tools Recommendations & Advice

Bargain of week at Homebase

Stanley Fatmax twin pack - Case -Hammer drill and driver -two batteries but only 1.3amp - even if you bought a 2.0 amp spare battery it's a bargain.

For an extra £10, if you really wanted the 2ah batteries you could get the combi (£70.93) and the bare impact driver (£48.93) seperately.

Don't think the impact driver would fit in the combi case as well though.

Any good deals on combi drills at the moment?

Looking to spend around £125; ideally something I can get a bit of longevity for as the collection will no doubt grow.

All round DIY use :)

Was in Homebase this morning and saw they had a line of tables filled with Power tool offers. - One was Stanley fatmax drill driver in case for £40 18v 1.2amp - I was after a hammer drill but looks like they have gone - There was also a lot of Worx power tools on offer as well.

Got talking to one of staff and Homebase is getting rid of all named goods - The new company will be like a large B&M (It's what she said) so although prices will be a lot less it seems product's will be buy em and chuck em.

I had a email from Toolstation offering Stanley garden tools -chainsaws trimmers etc so perhaps they will be taking over the Stanley franchise.

Keep my eye on it as need a bare hammer drill and they might have promotion deals on.

Look out for orange labels - we're local clearing a lot of products which were already on clearance so means real bargains to be had.

Think the member of staff got it wrong a little however, there are brands which aren't going to be sold going forwards which is what we're clearing through. We've got different brands coming in to replace them though both at entry level (Ozito) and top level (think Ryobi and Makita).

New store will be closer to a Wickes/B&Q than it used to be, so you'll see less plates/glasses/cushions etc and instead more tools & hardware and that sort of stuff

Worx has gone over to B&Q I believe and still being sold by Argos as well. Guild is now just in Argos I believe :)

I went back to Homebase this morning and came back with nice new Stanley mains planer - Was £67 and got it for £30 - What a nice piece of kit this is - very much like one guy next door has but he has DeWalt (same company)

Makes my 40 year old B&D one look like a piece of cheese. :D
