hope not cus my new 860 was retail price
I have found the i5 750 for £134 and the 860 for £205, reports are saying that a AMD x6 1055T will be out for £170.
Maybe I should look into AMD mini-itx?

totally up to you, i havent looked into amd, as i went for the comfort of knowing an i7 does what i need it to do
I assume the AMD isn't as fast clock for clock but by having an extra 2 coes will make it even against the i5 750/860?

gah AMD isn't worth looking at the mini-itx level.
Dunno what to do, keep atx and just drop a x6 cpu in or continue with intel mini-itx...
Gonna see if I can find amd x6 vs i5 750 benchies.

I'm not sure where but i believe i read that the 3.2ghz x6 is on level with a stock i7 860.

Depends if you decide to stay on the mITX road and try and get that sapphire board i doubt you would be able to clock it very high if you do.

I dunno what to do, just popping a x6 in my existing board is a lot cheaper.

Doesen't the DFI only have 3 SATA ports? you would only be limited to a SSD and 2 2tb HDDs

just got it up and running, everythings ok except the xfi sound... it installed, but wont work :/ windows defult high def crap is sat there in its place, so the xfi software wont run etc?
(i know its only software based xfi, but i like the software)

Why have you only got 2?
having a hellish time with this...
on my 4th windows install now.
the cd drivers seem to be pointless. had to update via website. (and ive lost the damn cd anyway)
Now, the usb seems funky, IE, my iphone wont install.
I'm using usb:
mouse
keyboard
with someones a dual usb cd rom, wacom, usb stick/iphone (using all usb slots) and the cd rom/iphone seem to disconnect of their own accord.
Its like not enough power is going to them, and its fudging annoying.
I dont know what to do in terms of testing? I need my iphone, it works fine on other comuters just not mine :/
and this ******* gtx 280 squealing is doing my head in. I;m ready to swear lots and punch someone.
