** PRE-ORDER SPECIAL PRICE: OcUK ATI HD 6850 OC ONLY £89.99 Inc. VAT!! **

Don't forget guys, that in the first post (on 10th February) Gibbo did say that stock is due in approx. 1-2 weeks, so in reality you probably aren't going to see them until around the end of the month!

Earlier would be great I know, but unfortunately these sort of things always seem to come later, rather than earlier, than we expect.

Fingers crossed anyway! :)

Edit: According to the product information page the ETA is now 20th February, which is next Monday, and which certainly sounds more encouraging! :)

In an ideal world, they would arrive Feb 23rd. No sooner, and no later. My last exam is on the 23rd which means I can get home, take a well deserved nap, and get cracking for some weekend relaxation.

Rather pleased that I sold my Sapphire 6850 for £92 three weeks ago. :D Shame the 77xx cards that I planned to replace it with are pretty much a no go at the moment in the bang/buck ratio. :(

Any way the 6850 is a good solid card and very nice for £90, though of course it depends on who the manufactuer of these OcUK ones is.

I was itching for a new gen part to upgrade my 5770 which has served me well, but this looks an enticing offer. It seems more frugal to get a last gen part for less than going with the lastest kit, assuming that the yet unreleased replacment part for the 6850 won't blow it out of the water at a resonable price point (seems unlikely, the price point that is).

Somewhat offtopic:
I'm not sure about some of the reviews concerning bf3 and 5770 (linked to earlier in thread). I have all settings to low except textures (which still looks great) and always remain much > 60fps. I have a q9550 @3.81Ghz and 4Gb ddr2 low voltage ram @1081Mhz. I'm on a 1680x1050 22" samsung monitor.

One ordered can't wait. Big jump from my 9800gt that I am awaiting back from RMA. I need to get a PSU as well as my current one only has one 6pin power connector so probably gonna get this one but unfortunately I am ordering it from elsewhere as it is cheaper and is delivered free.

How would this compare to a 280gtx at 1650 res in battlefield 3.....could I play ultra? 30fps?

Should be slightly quicker. Whether or not it would be that noticeable is a different matter. A quick look at Anandtech benchmark comparisons and the 285 GTX is only slightly behind the 6850. I think if I was upgrading from your card I'd be wanting a little bit more of a performance boost, particuarly as it seems you don't appear to change cards on a regular basis :)
