Prime.

It blows my mind how a sugar drink can gain this much traction. I dread to think what the profit margins are.

I mean red bull is same and its a fraction of the price. And look at the stuff they do. At least they do some awesome stuff.

I didn't think the hype would last this long. I'm not shocked at kids getting hooked. I'm shocked at parents for catering to it
Parents are probably struggling to pay bills but seem ok splashing out over a tenner on a seriously overhyped, nowt special drink.

I guess this is when you know you've moved into the "next generation".

Its a sad time really. I certainly didn't have fancy fads paid for me. I guess with the constant social media exposure child hood has changed a lot in 20 years

It doesn't have caffeine or alcohol in it. Now seen teens doing hippy crack and drive - cannister of nitrous oxide between the legs and inhaling balloons with the NO2. They were swivering all over the place.

Can lead to being fined and points apparently, thought I'd seen something in my phone news feed so just rechecked.

If that's the case why not all energy drinks

Well this is the generation that has unicorn poo as the top Christmas gift. For many here it would have been the Rubik's cube.

A generation that is mostly digital probably has some strange ideals when it comes to physical items. Kind of the opposite to when the internet came about and spending money on something digital seemed odd.

Add to that the dematerialisation of modern life. What is there to spend money on. Covid showed not a lot. Certain hobbies can be expensive but for the average kid they are stuck being followers and buying gimmicks like this prime drink.

Tracy Island was the big one for me. My dad couldn't get it anywhere so we had to make do making one like Blue Peter.

One thing it isn't is a sugar drink as it doesn't contain any.

Is anyone else being tortured by their children about this stuff? My kids are convinced their social lives and entire reputations are at stake if they don’t get the latest flavours. I’ve been touring the Spars and Asdas in the local area to try to get some “Ice Pop” and “Meta Moon” to no avail.

A dodgy guy in the local Spar heard my plight and gave me a tip for a place to go. This is what I found…

Only £11 for half a dozen I thought, but none of the flavours the kids wanted. I’ll get them anyway. Guy at the till wanted £66. They were £11 each. I left empty handed.

Another dodgy guy with a can of special brew and every scab on his face picked to the point of bleeding gave me another tip off. So off I went.

Oh look, what great value…

My kids hate me because I’m too tight and don’t realise that I have ruined their lives.

Maybe I could get them into coke instead? It would be cheaper.

I'm amazed these aren't in a locked cabinet.
