Pro Cycling Discussion 2016

What a days racing that was! Great rides from top 4! Devastated for atapuma but delighted for kruiswijk! Hopefully he's git some legs left for tomorrow! Glad to see valverde dropped!

So enjoyable seeing nibali in freefall! Good rides by top 2 and valverde (Eugh). The last week is going to be nothing held back for Astana and movistar!

What a fantastic stagew today was. Remembered to put the recording on about 30 minutes in, had kicked off a bit, but the best was yet to come. Great disciplined riding by Chaves in the end, but really good rides from the top 3. Nibalis plan backfired, but at least they tried. Certainly livened up the stage. Not sure who missed the cut but guessing it's going to be quite a few out of luck!

Just hope Kruiswijk keeps it together for the rest of the week now. He is looking very strong!

Kruiswijk is the man! I said at start of Giro he was a man to watch and it is now his Giro to lose, I cannot believe it. One of my favourite riders from one of my favourite teams, would be amazing to see a Dutch man win it :)

Chaves big mistake yesterday was not going with the move on first climb, the outcome of the day would have been a lot different if he went with that.

Nibali cracking was quite a sore sight, he went down fighting though.

Sagan + Astana if it comes off confirms my move perma into the hate side of my love/hate relationship for Sagan.

Absolutely, Ithought he'd podium, but didn't think he'd be riding this well. Sagan is almost there in the don't like him because he rides for Tinkoff, so seeing him ride for Astana will be the nail in the coffin :P

That crash for Kruiswijk was insane, how he got up! Not seen Zakarin yet. Such a shame for both. So annoying that Nibali is back in it. Be cheering on Chaves and Kruis tomorrow! Going to be a mental day though! Attacks all over the show no doubt. Unfortunately in my head I see Nibali winning it now! :(

Lot of my thoughts echo xdcx. Just cannot stand nibali, but he does make races entertaining. Chaves future grand tour winner for sure!

Henao cleared to race again. That sky squad could be ridiculous for le tour with possibly froome, landa, Henao, Thomas, nieve all potentially available.

Good day that, could see it coming a mile off though. Good to see Porte fighting at the front, would love to see him Podium in Le Tour.

Just watched the interviews, some interesting comments from Porte about the team instructions.

I wonder if it shows who Porte considers to be his main contender? He was more concerned about working with Froome to gain time over Contador than sitting on and beating Froome in the sprint to get bonus seconds over him. Or maybe he thought he could do both?

I think the team instructions not to work with Froome would have been the right choice. I guess they had the advantage of seeing that Contador was not coming back whereas Porte wanted to make sure he stayed in front and didnt waste the effort of going with Froome's attack. That's the whole point of having the DS there though!

Yeah, not too sure or perhaps he thought well I'm not beating him even if I sit on so make the most of the gap and bonus seconds and sit with sky for next couple of days minimising work and maybe an opportunistic few seconds at the last moment to snatch it. Gonna be a great day today with madaleine in the middle of the stage.

Anyone know what the schedule is for todays Dauphine stage, coverage only starts at 15:00 on both Eurosport and ITV4, by which time I suspect most of the action may have happened.

Sky look untouchable, the Tour is going to be a domination! Although whats Quintana up to? no one know how hes looking

Think he is looking at Route du Sud, won Romandie last month, but is back in Colombia, he'll have to make up big time in the mountains so is obviously focusing on that with the amount of TT mileage on this years tour.

Just watched Tour De Suisse stage 2 and 3 highlights. Bloody hell Sagans sprint on second stage, and the ride to make the break in horrible conditions was a sight. Last 13km is incredible.

Sagan and Stuyven would have been better ditching the bikes and having a full on scrap today. Sagan was knocking lumps into him coming into the sprint haha.

A few awesome shorts of the approach and sprint today.... Van Poppel's an absolute hero holding it and not going down and check the front wheels of the 3 coming into the sprint straight and those corner angles.... WOW:

I get corner angles like that on my TT bike :D Will watch the highlights when I get back, but that was impressive handling from DVP

And as it's only a week until le tour. British nationals are underway. Dowsett once again the British champ for men and simmonds for women.

Road races this coming Sunday in Stockton. Guessing they'll be on one channel. Not entirely sure as I'm stuck in Paris!
