Pro Cycling Discussion 2016

Great sprint that, was watching with friends and we all just had that moment just before the line of, he's in front, he's in front! :D huge crash too, hope no lasting injuries. Wonder how long Contador will last, as he looked absolutely smashed to pieces.

Great move and ride from both GVA and DeGendt! Thought Movistar had burnt all their matches and had left a bit of danger, but coped well with just Valverde at the end. Although not good for when they get into the mountain when sky had 3-4 riders still left!

Bloody social media! spoiled that for me, and what was a fantastic last 5km all around. Dan McLay is an animal, the speed he pulled to move up, if he gets his timing sorted he'll be bagging a stage this year.

Merckx record isn't so far away now for Cav with the form he is showing this tour. Back to his previous best! Really hope he gets over the mountains and reclaims the Champs Elysees! It should be renamed Cav Elysees after his 4 in a row.

His train made it easy for him - again, there was a time where he was the only sprinter with a leadout. They more-or-less invented the sprint train at HTC. These days there are 3-4 trains in every race and he has become very good at tagging onto another team and riding alone.

This highlights that actually HTC and the team Cav built around him were genuine innovators that all the sprint teams have gone on to copy. Much like marginal gains or wings in F1, just because they done it first and so much better than everyone else, this shouldn't take anything away from his achievements.

The fact that Cav seems to now be working with how the peloton seems to be in the last 3k whilst Kittel is there moaning he can't work with it highlights how he is once again working harder than others to refine his sprint to suit his capabilities and take advantage of everything going on. That and he appears to be back to his level of actually being able to outsprint people due to his low aeroness. :D

Didn't see that one coming. Rewriting the script. Everyone else were the ones following it this time! Great for Yates too!

Quite frank comments from Brailsford about them expected to do the work even without the yellow jersey. Got a point though.

It's a thread for commenting on the racing. I watch delayed usually but would comment to the live comments to generate discussion. Don't see any problems with it. No different to the football or f1 threads.

Just watching the highlights again.

Contador was keepingup relatively well. Surprised he didn't try survive the day and assist kreuizger, who is impressing me.

Was a good day with racing all over for points, finish, sprints etc. Fantastic ride by dumoulin, but also Adam yates and Dan Martin. Be interesting to see how he fares when it comes to the final week,as he usually wilts over time. Wonder if porte will be trying to take back his team leader role too. Didn't seem too bothered to help tvg.

Was it me or was that a really dull stage. Sagan back to his usual tricks of doing too much work! Thought he'd got out of that, but maybe he's still trying to push his price up in contract negotiations!

Contador out of the Olympics too due to his injuries! Vuelta it is then!

Blimey that stage was pretty mad! G was immense to get back on!

Ventoux being shortened certainly changes things. I reckon sky had an idea it was going to be undideable earlier as they were smashing it all day!

Wow, have just caught up, but did not expect to hear/see that, got the we've heard of a crash then cutting to Froome running. Absolutely ridiculous.

Quintana and few in the bit behind have definitely got a bit lucky as those 3 were flying up the road. Le Tour/ASO need to react after this and actually put provision in place to control the crowd better. It's getting so dangerous for riders and spectators alike now.

Fair play to Mollema, looked great, and he can TT a bit from what I remember. Porte showing he is the team leader in BMC, but my god he is the unluckiest bloke on earth.
