Pro Cycling Discussion 2016

:( terrible news. I was following it last night and Wanty tweeted he was still serious then there was a rumour tweet saying he had passed away... Was hoping it was not the case.
25 years old. Such a waste but as you say Perma, this has been on the cards for quite some time and should never have been.

A cracking E3 and Gent-Wevelgem. So happy for Kwiat and Sagan. Sky are looking good to contest a monument this year.

Such a shame about Demoitie. Such a waste and utterly preventable. Something needs to be done about the motorbike riders. The teams and the peloton need to make a stand against this.

Awful news. I remember David Millar tweeting a few weeks ago about his impression that there were more motorbike incidents in recent years than when he was racing.

I dont think Ettix did anything wrong tactically today.
They got Stybar in the right place and got him in the right break (which he then lost when GvA dropped a wheel in front of him).
They were quick to get all their riders working to chase once they realised Stybar had been dropped.

They should probably have done better considering the numbers they had but it was down to their riders not being as strong as the riders up the road rather than any tactical errors.

Yeah, that's a fairer assessment. I was just frustrated as I had a couple of quid on Stybar! I was impressed by Gaviria getting up there towards the end as well. I didn't think he had the strength for the classics but he's proved me wrong here and MSR.

I don't feel like the chase fully committed in those last 10km which probably handed the race to Sagan once the slow speed cat and mouse stuff began. Cancellara looked to be feeling the effects of E3 as well.

It must have been a great experience for Kuznetsov to end up in that final group though, some serious pedigree there.

You won't see the list and it won't amount to anything near what that article is hinting at.
We could generate a list of every rider from the UK who competed in the TdF since 2010 but it won't be THAT many, so if 150 athletes consisting of cyclists, a cricket player and footballers... That must be one hell of amount of sketchy ball kickers?

His statement is amazing. It's every generic high profile PED we all know off the top of our head and he is giving them to professional athletes..... If it enhances their performance it's just a side efffect... What a bell.

Yes was the times article. Shall wait and see.

Great win by sagan today timed to perfection and just had the best legs of all. Armistead too, knew when it got down to that sprint she'd win it. She's flying! and great ride by vanmarck considering his earlier issues.

Predicted cancellara so not far off.

I was all giddy like a child when he smashed it up the Partberg and dropped Sep like a sack of tatties. Amazing.

Wonderful stuff - don't wait to be second in a sprint! Liked that Sep let Canc roll across and wave to the crowd. Shows how strong Sagan can TT to hold off a undoubtedly motivated TT monster

Lizzie is just brutal at the moment - is she still unbeaten in the rainbow bands?

I can't pick someone to win this weekend, last weekend was Sagan or Fab for sure.

I'd pick the above two, but I think Etixx will be in the mix and Sky more than last weekend as PR can be more of a team race. Trek have a good team too but Sagan is a little alone it seems, I'd put Boom in the same camp Astana don't seem to have much.

Both Lotto teams are good being from Belgium. With Sep being a proven podium but he won't win a sprint so I can't see him being on the top step. Benoot having crashed last weekend hard won't be at his best, so top 5 is the best Lotto B can hope for I think, but they have a couple of other good riders.

Not sure about Kristoff, Katusha have gone OK but I can see him missing the split at the end again but going top 10.

So I've picked the second placed man so far in MSR and ToF, I've predicted Stybar for this week. So if you want to win some money put him down as an each way :P

Also cmon Berger you're slipping, he hasn't moved yet :P
