Pro Cycling Thread 2023

The TT stages are just an exhibition of weird head related rubbish.

Also, Vingegaard is not an attractive cyclist to watch is he. Weird little legs and a really choppy peddling style at times. Just comparing him to most of the other guys who are smooth and well proportioned.

The tour is at an interesting point. By and large, everyone has been super positive about yesterdays stage but it was fundamentally gravel. Will they add more. Will the tour change to include mountain stages, tts, gravel, cobbles, velodrome etc to make it more interesting?

it's warming up nicely. Really enjoyed yesterdays stage kept me flicking between the stage and the F1 race.

Tadej has to be the favourite but I am quietly confident about Jonas as he should really come into his own in the next 2 weeks. He's close enough now that the gap isn't worrying and I doubt he, or VLB, are too worried about Remco or Primoz. Though if Remco can stay close during the mountains it could be all to play for during the ITT. really excited about how it's all shaping up. One good thing about being ill the last week or so is that I've managed to watch pretty much every stage in it's entirety, even that boring one.

I know Jonas doesn't have the pizzazz or personality of a Tadej but for some reason I'm drawn to him much more even though I imagine Tadej would be more fun to hang out with.

If Jonas can grab Maillot Jaune and Bini takes the Malliot Vert I'll be delighted. Maybe another cheeky Cav win too.

That gravel stage was completely bonkers, but it actually produced some decent action and excitement. What a miserable thing to ride though! Surprised there weren’t more crashes.

Still think the craziest bit was the descent on stage 4. Buttock clenching stuff and that was just watching the highlights!

Man I love watching Jonas climb. He just reeled in Tadej like it was nothing.

Hes a tiny sparrow of a man even by cycling standards. He loves it when the road points up.

Have to say though, hes made a case for his credentials as a genuine contender this year. Thought he would be a little off the pace but none of it. Statement stage win today.

I was following it on text but when I saw Pogi attacked I wanted to watch. Saw Jonas was 30s back and got bit disheartened but then he just reeled him in like it was nothing

What a stage! What about balls, Remco? :p

Roglic proving once again he's brilliant at falling off at just the right time.

It's mad that they can continue cycling at this level with Covid. I got it in November and it stopped me cycling for 3 months!

COVID in its current guise is sometimes fantastically mild. I think its like anything where people attribute "fighting through" an illness. The truth is that people don't really do that. They are either not that sick or they don't compete. I've had COVID at least 3 times at this point and 1 time was nothing, one time was quite bad and the other was just meh.

It does vary, first time I had it I raced British national cx champs ( having tested for the 3 days prior being negative) and despite coughing and spluttering had my best ever result, but then had it the following year and it took me 3 months to be able to put my socks on without needing to catch my breath, and about 12 months until I actually felt like I could breath completely freely.

Chances that roglic will win the vuelta now after yet another tdf abandon.

Looks like Roglic has abandoned the TdF after his crash yesterday. That’s his third DNF in his last three tries

Doh, just saw Solid already posted it

ive not seen his crash but it sounded like he just fell asleep, much like his previous 2 tours... how he's won the vuelta 3 times.
