Project - 37a (Wendyhouse)

Poorly builder day (boring update)

Oh dear, so today was going to get half of the internal wall up but the builder is quite poorly so in the interest of him not vomiting all over the new floor he's had a rest day.

I however have cracked on with some stuff that I wanted to do;

Firstly I've "tidied" (used loosely) the behind of the shed up along the fence where nobody will see it. We have a LOT of concrete that has come out of the rest of the garden so I've put it to good use;

**Mods before picture in spoiler tags as I've used it once already
Before;

After;
Tidies it up, easily accessible and gets rid of a lot of rubble

Have fitted up a wall bracket, not sure what to use this for yet, as far as planning exemption goes, I can't receive anything via RF through it as it makes it a dwelling but I can use it for a pole for an outdoor wifi point, additional CCTV camera or even a backup wireless bridge to the house should I need one. (Yes I know there is a gap in the fascia board and I have the bit to fill it just not the goo.)

Have also programmed this baby up! This will effectively be the point of distribution for the mancave. Main router will be set to queue all traffic behind this so it takes priority. For reference it's a Mikrotik CRS125-24G-1S-RM

Sorry for the boring update, I promise internal stuff will start soon.

I really wanted to convert my attic but ended up not as I game and work at fairly unreasonable hours. With a Mrs, 3 kids and a mother in law below me I didn't think it was worth the gamble.

I'm ready for it to finish now, I need the space, I really want my PC back and I want to get my move in completed.

Arhhh I see the need for it now, I have my own little office other side of house from where she sleeps so its not to bad fr noise ect.

Installing windows

So we've had a good morning of progress!

And a step into the shed

Still a little to do on the door and window combo but it's starting to come together.

Was meant to have half the internal wall built but because the blocks were so wet it wasn't worth doing so it'll get started next weekend.

I've also purchased LED light bulbs from Ikea (5000k ones).

Partition done

Very happy today, partition wall is now up and the render has been started.
(Apologies for pic quality as the light is fading and my ipad couldn't handle it too well)

This will eventually be where the desk and rack live

Now we are having a huge debate over what white to paint the external rendering, "English" white (so just off white) or Brilliant white, I've been advised brilliant may look a little "in your face" but I kind of like that idea and in time I guess it will dull down?

I would use cream or magnolia paint. White paint totally looks like ass after you expose it to the elements. Any moss growing on it or anything at all makes it look like one of those old caravans.

Either that or I would just render it and then seal it, job done.

I agree, and given the amount of work which is going into the project, and the high standard of what has been done so far, having it rendered is certainly an option worth considering, although I do appreciate that it would cost a bit more than just painting it!

Great work and very nice space, if only I had an empty garage and not a full one

Ive always been the same until recently. I had a major clear out when I was moving.

plan next year is to build a big shed to use as a mini workshop I would like to section off a bit of it to use as a computer area.

only problem ive got is im using a 8x6 the now and I don't even have half my tools in there... Ideally I need something double the size as I rebuild engines for folk in there.

Ive down sized from a 18x11 that I had at the old house. ive got a load of my tools stored up at my mates the now. I have had a major clear out and got rid of stuff that ive not used or needed in years. and moved all my E30 stuff over to the barn beside the E30 so Im hoping I can get away with a 12x10 or 12x8 and then use the 8x6 as storage
