Project - 37a (Wendyhouse)

As per usual the project is looking good and coming on in leaps and bounds. It's amazing how much difference can be made to the looks by the addition of plaster board and lights etc. :)

Non photographic update

Just a status update.
The cave has wifi! I got fed up of staring at the blank back boxes so pulled the cabled in and kroned them down. All labelled up as well now including the shed to mancave box as well.

Externally I've also now finished securing the power and data cables to the wall so all I'm waiting for is to refit the fronts then outside can be siliconed up to waterproof it before painting.

The MikroTik is now all configured as much as it can be, they have an amazing "export" command which was great for modifying for the new RB3011.

Possibly getting the remaining boarding done Friday and maybe some skimming Saturday.

Very ready for it to be done now, I've even pulled the i7 rig out from under the stairs and connected it up in the bedroom to install W10 and a few cheeky games of Arma3.

Excellent news, looks like the finishing line is insight :D
Glad it's all connected and up now, must admit thats a bug bear with projects is that you can use anything in the time the project is taking place :(

Progress!

Brilliant day for progress today. The guys came quite early (before I was even out of bed) and cracked on.

So after today we have;

A shed side door

Rendering finished on the outside (which extends to the side wall where the gate is as well

Fully plasterboarded and all reveals covered and beaded and now we are starting to get skimmed

And the ceiling skimmed now as well

Also now filled in the gap when you walk in

Plans are hopefully to get the skim finished this week and the gap at the door to get filled and finished. Maybe some latex on the floor and some skirting boards.

We were going to try and push for a before Christmas finish but I don't think we'll make that now however it's not life ending.

Looking good :)
Personally I wouldn't try and rush it to finish it before christmas as to give the walls their coat of primer and paint in one week might be pushing it as well as trying to get floors in as well.

Better to take your time and do it right :D

Last update before Christmas

A better outdoor picture

The remaining plastering was done today (note gap next to door starting to get covered now).

And we have skirting boards

Aim is to let it dry until after the 27th and then I'll get first coat of paint on and maybe look at starting to do the outside (weather dependant).

Looking very nice, all the pieces are falling into place and once the paint is on it will look impressive. Still looking forward to seeing all the shiny hardware in place :D

Make sure you have a break over christmas :)

Paint

We're rolling along now. The painting has started. 1st coat of external render paint is on and has dried nicely, a rather fetching "Abbey Grey" was the choice.

(Note mess on side of gate was not me overpainting and this will be the last picture of the side gate)

Also a helping hand from the wife got 2 white wash coats onto the ceiling and a coat all around 3 walls. The paint has taken really well, in the end we mixed 1:5 water to paint as the container had instructions for fresh plaster on it.

Yes that is an Auraglow colour changing LED lightbulb as well, I thought it would add some late night fun when gaming if the room went red or blue.

The 4th wall will be where my sofa goes against and a white sofa on a white wall wouldn't look great so samples up and I've decided on a feature wall with this

I'm hoping in the next couple of days to get coat 2 onto the outside, wooden door varnished and a final emulsion coat onto the internal walls finished with the gloss work done.

More paint and RGB

A little bit more progress. All walls now satin emulsion in white, have a few bits I need to touch up here and there but for the most part the paint is now done including the gloss on the skirting boards.

Socket fronts are all now on bar 2. One on the wallpaper wall and one where I need longer screws.

Heater for drying paint a bit better

Still need a light shade of some description

Bulb fun, the satin finish white walls have really emphasized the colours.

Wallpaper has also been purchased as has another tin of the outdoor grey so I can get a good second coat on it once the weather dries up. Once wallpaper is done the carpet will go down.

Excellent, it's coming on in leaps and bounds. I love the RGB light bulb, it's ashame you can't control it with your PC for some "Immersive" gaming sessions.

Great work :)

Wallpapered

After a morning that looked amazing when I got up I decided to do coat 2 of the external paint, something I'm now regretting as it's hammering it down and we have gale force winds.

Internally we now have wallpaper on the 4th wall. Thank you to the Mrs and her Mum for doing that as I'm a complete decorating noob.

I also managed to get some longer screws for the light spur so that box is now on and all sockets have been touched up around them so the paint is A1.

Internal jobs left waiting now are the gloss on the window sills (hoping to do tomorrow) and then we're ready for carpet.

The wallpaper looks great in the room, nice black to contrast with the white and (if my eyes dont't deceive me) it appears to be textured.

Good choice OP, I bet the keyboard and mouse will really bring the room together :D
