Project: Angel

So much work to do and so little time :(. I'm really excited about this build but freeing up some time to actually get it done is proving difficult.

Tell me about it - if it's any help your continued progress has kick started mine also - but it taken me 3h just to modify one heatsink for the sound card.

Nice work w3bbo, keep inspiring us - want to do some case painting myself now, and some etching ;)

I would have loved to have done my case white but it required some serious sanding to get rid of the orange peel effect if already had from the factory (shows up badly in white if you don't get it right). This looks awesome and they spray finish is looking good.

Looks nice :) I may have to paint a few extras for my case, looks soo much better when everything matches!

And that etching is amazing, bet your well chuffed! :D

Yeah the etching is sweet, it's not in your face like some I have seen and still allows the internals to be viewed. In short it looks like it's supposed to be like that if you catch my drift.

Hehe, cheers m8. Time is a major factor in any build tbh, the time you put in doesn't always show when the build is complete but it's still worth it imo. I'm not a perfectionist but I like everything to look just right:D

Well the case is powdercoated which does have a very mild orange peel effect. The trick was getting a white paint that matched the white powdercoat. I went through four cans before I found a close match. Then I had to battle with dust and flys as spraying anything white outdoors in warm weather always attracts the little blighters.

Here's a tip. When you've finished spraying, to keep the insects away cut an orange in half (they hate citrus) and lay it next to your wet parts.

I'm away for a couple of days but hope to get some more done at the weekend.:)

W3bbo, nice one man :D cant wait for the finnished product.

How come you get sponserd for your builds? and what happens to the builds after there finnished?

Coz I'm good at what I do or maybe I'm just lucky? :shrugs:

They liked my last build so much it got featured on MountainMods front page. It builds revenue for them so it's good business sense and cheap advertising. Why does anyone sponsor anyone? Sponsorship is one of the best and cheapest forms of advertising. Look at Fatal1ty and how that brand has took off!

Trust however is a major factor. Big companies are not going to send freebies to anyone, they need to know you will use their product to generate sales for them, spread the word so to speak and show their product in the best possible light.

When the build is finished, I show it then I keep it - afterall I don't do it for nothing and I don't charge for the considerable time and effort it takes to make a good build. The satisfaction after the build is finished is payment enough for me. :)

Time to finally crack on with the fun part now!

Cheers m8. Taking full frontal shots of acrylic engraving in crap light without getting a reflection of my ugly mug wasn't easy lol.;)

mmmmmmmmm love window engraving, lucky man ;)
really want too see this one done, looks to be an epic build

im not familiar with your other builds, are there any threads on here with them in you could link me to?

Here ya go:

U2-UFO

Tiger Style

Haha :D

The engraving looks awsome!

Looking forward to some more pics

More pics to come very soon (weekend I guess).

:O I really like the Tiger Style one,
wish i had opportunities like this ;)

The previous builds were not sponsored. It's just takes a little time and imagination m8 (as well as money I guess).

Very nice, really like the white finish on the case.

Cheers. I was actually surprised how nice the case looks in the flesh as white can be really hit or miss. Black easily disguises blemishes whereas white makes them stick out like a sore thumb. The finish though is nigh on perfect, which is gonna make keeping the build tidy looking all the more difficult!

Know what you mean about getting a decent finish in white, im a painter and decorator and white is always hard to get just right on any surface. Considering getting some old brushed aluminium eclipse 62 panels i have spare, powdercoated white, and paint the front fascia white, keep my kama bay dvd drive and fan controller black.

Would look sweet. I considered doing something simililar with my build but black didn't really fit in well with the Angel theme, unless it was an Angel of death :D.

Yeah i get what you mean mate i cant wait to get creative, will be doing as soon as im back in work :p

Just a few questions about watercooling as ive never done it before and you obviously know your stuff:-
-is it hard to setup
-by leak test do you run the water while its away from the pc and just the blocks on their own on a table or something?
-and when it comes to cleaning how often do you have to do it/is it a pain to do?

-is it hard to setup

No, just take your time, and it's easy really. Looks hard and risky but if you do your research, it's a doddle.

Some people do, personally I don't bother now as I'm confident in my building. I see little point in leak testing outside a case, to strip it down and then build it inside and leak test again. I will perhaps leak test for an hour or so if it;s something complex and I would deffo advise newbies to watercooling to do the same as a minimum.

-and when it comes to cleaning how often do you have to do it/is it a pain to do?

If you clean your parts right and use the correct liquids/additives your loop in the first place your loop should not need cleaning for 6 months-year.

think ill have to have a play around when i get a build sorted, maybe start off small with just a cpu block ;)

cant wait to get back into work though, so much more satisfying than sitting on my ass, especially when i could be working knowing im saving towards a mega system :p
