Project - Blueboy - Watercooled Lian Li v2000

I think i'm moving away from led anyway, they seem to reduce the uv effect on my hose as well. The price is a bit high but i can get the 120's in a 4 pack for £35 and the 140's for £14 each.

Did a bit of a strip down to check the blocks and replace the water, gave me a chance to remove most of the 45 degree rotaries and clean the loop route a little and fit my 12gb ram. Flow has increased nicely since removing the rotaries too. May mod the res a bit to flatten the inlets on the base so my 3/4od compressions can sit properly on it without the need for rotaries or spacers.

Bit more of an update, decided to change my hose to some clear/uv blue and going to use some mayhems uv blue as well. May have a look at moving the res to the inside rear of the case where the single exhaust fan is now and got the extenders to remove the rotaries on the res.

Bits turned up :)

Spacers for the res, time to lose the last rotaries.

The spacers were used before the compressions on the res as rev 1 ek multi res' cannot take 3/4od compressions as the flat area on the res is too small. They are pretty unrestricive (less than the 45 degree rotaries) but are smaller than 1/2id but not by much.

Here's a good pic that shows the spacers and the area that's too small to take a 3/4od compression.

Inside, i think im going to get some high density led flexlights as the cathodes just don't provide enough uv.

My led strip lights arrived, a lot smller than i expected and so much brighter uv light. If anyone is looking for good uv lighting get led's, you wont need many as they are so much brighter than ccfl with no inverters to hide, I'll certainly never buy another ccfl again.

These are Phobya LED Flexlight HighDensity UV, On the left a 120cm on the right a 60cm

This is when i realised how bright these lights are, bear in mind this is uv clear tubing and not blue. The effect is this bright even with daylight/room lights.

I'd imagine you would, the liquid would glow and the tube stay all glassy. I have some mayhems uv clear blue in the loop and i cannot see much uv in the res. This maybe because it shows up more in "busy" water and i run a fairly low flow loop and have my res filled to the brim. I don't have any clear hose around just the uv clear masterkleer and the uv blue primochill otherwise i'd try to mock something up.

It's tricky to capture but the hose really does glow now, it's brighter than in the internal pictures and more like the picture of the hose on the floor. Now i'm lookin at the gelid wing uv blue fans again to finish the look off but they are pretty pricey.

I think the gelid wings are going to happen at some point. I'm toying with the idea of dual sr1 420's in the bottom, depends on my next gpu setup though.

Very smart! Im inspired by water-cooled machines but I don't have the confidence to build one myself, lol. Water + Electric = not good :(

Thanks, it's not as hard to do as it may seem. Just read a lot and don't be afraid to ask questions and be patient.

Little update, got some of the ek uv blue liquid will add this when i decide about a possible graphics upgrade :)

Going to go for an Ek 6990 nickel plexi (en) block,
ek6990.jpg

still debating wether or not to go dual loop but will be adding another 420 or 280 rad to cool the beast.

So I removed the 5870, made a CPU only loop, fitted the 6990 and ax850 psu. All was fine played some dirt 3 and ran heaven a few times then was reading some forums and the pc shuts down and now it won't start up !! The mobo power and reset buttons are lit up but it won't power up. I'll put the 5870 back in later and try with my hx620 when I get home, fingers crossed.

errrrrm YES to the UV flexlights
I'm gonna have to get me some of those!

Although I intend to upgrade to mayhems aurora coolant soon so UV will be undesirable...

Can you cut the phobya kits to length?

I don't think you can, they come in 3 different lengths 30cm 60cm and 120cm.

Well got home from work and it's working again  The psu has a whine to it though in certain situations. Currently trying different combinations of power saving options in the bios but it's still doing it!!!

And to top it off when i opened up my old ek fc5870 nickel acetal block, guess what i found?

I don't need this today i have man flu and i'm dying!!

Sent my rma request hopefully i can get the 6990 block i want instead.

Heres the psu, still trying to kill the idle buzzing it's pretty annoying.

The 6990 is a huge card, dwarfs my 5870.

This psu shuts it's fan off when idle, was one of the reasons i picked it. If I still havn't figured out how to make it stop buzzing by tomorrow i'm going to get a replacement. Thankfully the shop i got it from is only 5 mins away.
