Project: Fallen Angel

Decided to stick with the black/carbon look for the psu as it looks more pro.

Minor update: Memory

I was gonna sell this kit and go for a 12gb kit but in all honesty I wouldn't make use of 12GB and despite having some serious offers for the memory, none were really enough for what the memory was worth so I decided to keep it and match it to my build. HEre's how the sticks look stock:

Time for a bit of domination :D

Now I could have just sold these and bought a set of dominator GT's for the same aesthetic effect but this kit out performs the dominators by a fair margin (I know because I have reviewed both ;)).

The edges need sharpening up a tad but thats an easy enough job.

Now for the fans:

I innitially bought some of these in 120 & 140mm guise:

and while they are good fans, I really wanted some with red fins. Choices were a bit thin on the ground. Phobya Nano-G fans had the look but not the performance. Enermax Apolish fans also would have fit the bill but the cfm was dire and clearly these put looks over performance.

Enter the Prolimatech Vortex :)

These were perfect (apart from the price!) high cfm, low noise with great looks. Only problem was the cables wern't braided. Did I mention I hate braiding? Grrrr. Had to be done though:

Another 3 on order along with a 120mm Coolermaster sickleflow as the exhaust fan.

The plan is to have 3x140mm intakes along with another 140mm roof exhaust and 2x 140mm on the Super Mega HSF.

Loving the look of them fans mind.
Perfect choice for the case, I think a nice Enermax Appolish 120mm would go nice in there too! But that's my personal opinion, got one in my case and it's looking slick.

The fans look great w3bbo, a thing about the apollish fans though I believe they have an in built temp monitor & ramp up in speed according to what the ambient temp is so at about 20c or below you can't even hear them lol, they are quieter than the enermax tb fans I got :D but sheesh they are expensive.

Am liking the choice of fans...a lot....:)

Me too ;)

Maximum cfm tho was around 40 or something? Unless it exceeds this

How awesome would the Bitfenix look if you swapped the blades out of the Prolimatech... MMMMmmmmm... lol

Red blades + red LEDs = red win ;)

You mean like this:

SSD Placement

So as this case doesn't have inbuilt SSD holders I decided to mount the drive to the motherboard tray.

Sticking the SSD to the tray would have been the easiest option however plugging the cables in could dislodge the drive and make a mess of the vinyl so I used some old extended motherboard risers:

Didn't like the look of brass (not that anyone will see) so I heat'shrunk' those:

...and mounted it to the motherboard tray:

HD Reversal and cabling

The hard drives should go connector side showing, however I don't like looking at cables and prefer to keep the look as clean as possible so placed them this side around. Attaching the HD rack might take a little modding but thats the price I'll pay for a cleaner look.

The SATA cables were fiddly to do , especially as the connectors needed re-alligning to match up to the spacing of the HD's but I think they came up a treat:

and here's how they look attached:

Shame that they won't be seen....might change my mind about the clean look!

Starting to come together quite nicely w3bbo, i also prefer to hide the cable side of the hdd's in my A70F, though it uses a sideways mounting hdd tray, keep the cable side away from the side access panel.

Please try and avert your eyes from my rather crude home made gpu cooling solution.:D

You have to show those cables. They look great. :)

Undecided at present. I'll see how it looks with all the other cabling then make a judgement call ;).

Haha, love the ghetto cooling m8! As you can see from my pics, I might sneek a fan into one of the spare HD racks to help the 470's keep cool although it'll be a little less ghetto:p

Where are those fans I sent you m8?

Yep, could do with a tidier arrangement myself, thinking of making an aluminium frame to hold the fan, (140mm so as to cool both cards more effectively). Have it mounted on an adhesive pad, still though the current bodge job keeps both cards at decent enough temps, (oc'd at 800/1600/1684) max of 81-80c in game using auto fan.

I got my cards to around the same clocks too (same temps more or less) but anything over 1700 shader results in loss of display driver :(. Not really had time to play yet though so will give them a better blast once I'm up and running.

Ahh, havent got round to installing them just yet, busy sorting out stability issues with my cpu overclock, been having a bit of a nightmare with running 20x200 bclk, prime blend being the culprit, but its been running 4 hours or more this evening error free after a bit of tweaking.

Cards runnig on 1.012v, tested with various benchmarks and a lot of bad company 2. No issues so far thankfully.

Before cracking on with the mootherboard prep I wanted to clear up a few odds and sods so 'carbonised' the GPU's to match the build:

Next up was the window mod.

The case came with a mesh panel:

but I prefer perspex, black tinted of course:

Needs a good polish with anti static but looks sweet in situ :).
