Project Reality v1 finally here

Actually you do find when playing on insurgency/rebel side since they have unconventional weaponry not to mention poor range due to lack of scopes that there is normally a lot more madness going on and as you say in a good way :P

Squads are normally nowhere near as organised so it's more acceptable to play solo on there. Gives you a nice opportunity for sneaky play and troll the big conventional armies with all sorts of trickery :D

When I played the cars literally blew up on purpose, you just had to drive round a corner into the tank and left click .

Insurgent can be a massacre or the cleverest side to play on because they also use civilians as interference to stop saturation bombing of this mostly small arms army. I much prefer it to the game insurgency

I believe if you are an insurgent/rebel your deaths will not cost your team tickets, so using suicide cars etc. to cause chaos is encouraged :)

Only on the Insurgency game mode. There are still unconventional forces maps with the Assault and Secure layer. The ticket balance does need addressing on these layers in my opinion though!

Ah yes remember that, you did just disappear for a while heh, was a pretty fun game even if we did get slaughtered!

It's unofficial at this point but I am using the OCUK tag under the same name.

ok, further to my previous posts pointing out what I didn't like about this game I'm here to ask a question....if I may?

I want to like this and I want to like it's 'other half' Squad and everyone keeps telling me that in order to really enjoy this you need to be in a team/group/squad.

so the question, anyone wanna take me under their wing and show me where I'm going wrong?
and this is a genuine request, I'm not going to play for an hour and then come back on here going 'told you it was a turd na na na na na'
if after been shown round the game I still can't get on with it, i'll happily move on, no moaning no complaining. I just feel I'm missing out as on paper it seems great but I've just not been able to get on with it.

cheers in advance

In all honesty while a lot of people throw comparisons between BF, ARMA and Insurgency, this game is like nothing out there and if you don't like it then it's hard to convince somebody to like it as it's simply not for you. I don't mean that in some elitist way that PR players are better than you (although there is that problem in the community) and you're just not good enough for this game, but we simply enjoy different things. Squad will never be a popular mainstream game but it will have a solid player base and enjoyable game for those of us who like it and hopefully some new players when it's no longer in mod form for a very old game. I use an OCUK tag with the same name and started leading squads over last few days so feel free to holler me in games.

Also now that I finally sorted Mumble out and lag issues I was having, I've had a few good days of games on this and started leading some squads. After few years off and playing more modern titles the core game certainly does feel like it's showing its age but core gameplay is definitely still there despite some clunky mechanics. I'm definitely liking the bigger teams of 50 v 50 now, however, not sure how I feel about squads of 8 now rather than 6. I'm finding it a lot harder to manage as a SL and it gets even worse once bullets start flying and medic is needed as things just get messy.

Already coming to a conclusion that 2 medics are needed for a team of 8 but that takes some firepower out of a team. Also liking the idea of local chat now available as in theory you could use the bigger 8 man squad to split it into 4 man teams whilst keeping the comms clean if you're assaulting a position or searching for a cache but you need a strong second in command in your team, not to mention it was hard to do before the influx of new players as now you spend a lot of time guiding and tutoring people. I find myself staring more into a map setting up markers and explaining what we're doing than doing actual fighting now, things just seemed more fluid before.

From a technical point of view, one issue I'm having is that I game on a laptop and don't have a number pad so makes it hard to communicate with other SLs so I'll have to think of a way to do that with my limited keyboard!

I remember rocking around in PR in the earlier years. Used to be part of the Tactics and Teamwork (T&T) group, back in the day before the leadership tore it apart (MadTommy).

It was a decent game but the Dev's took some interesting game play choices which knackered a few aspect fo the game for me like rally points. I'm watching squad to see what happens but we'll see!

PR was always a difficult game to get in to. you had to have a good Squad/Team to really enjoy it.

Anyone remember the joys of "Big Red" :D

Seems PR is suffering a bit from the success of Squad and almost every server I joined this afternoon has someone team killing at the spawn point or roaming the streets in a Striker mowing everyone down without discrimination.

Shame, as when it clicks or you get into a good squad it's really really good and I wish I had given it a go earlier.

Always happens for the first week or two post-patch, and the Squad publicity isn't helping towards that. I'm sure it will settle down again in due course :)

hmmmm........maybe.....just maybe it is winning me over ;)

Based on some more game time or just what is written here? I asked because I was going to post to you to tell you to wait a week or two, because finding a good squad is proving really difficult since the patch.

When the messers go back to playing whatever, I hope PR will be the organised grind it was intended to be.

Found me a good squad earlier.

British armed forces on a map name I can't remember but it was a series of high rise buildings in a town.

Moving from building to building as a breacher, setting up a base of fire to cover other squads etc. Easily as much fun as I have ever had in ArmA 3 milsim!
