As for the PS2 not being able to do foliage, was i tripping during MGS3, SOCOM 1 2 and 3 FFX.....

I have said RE4 is not good, and it is a port, compare 2 games made for each system and you will see a different picture develop.

GT4 doesnt look photorealistic, we are at leat 15 years away from that. But GT4 standing up against PGR3 really is doing a fineeeeeeee job.

Dismissing a console because of 'on paper' then that is just fanboyism as much as most folk on here thinking the PS2 looks good, and yes i think there is one game on the PS2 that looks better than all the rest. But i didnt say it was superior as a blanket whole across the consoles.

Compare GT4 to the worse (from a purely graphical aspect) games on the XBOX/GC....GT4 is better, I don't think anyone can deny that, I don't care how many polys there are, how many organic objects there are, it just looks better. Same with Burnout Revenge, it may not look better than the XBOX version, but it's still certainly better than the worse looking XBOX games!

I didnt say worst games on either platform at all. I said substandard. Theres a difference.
Making a vechicular game look pretty isnt hard. Making a game with organic objects in it is.
Yet you say you 'dont care' about whats beign rendered and say that it 'looks' better, when it quite clearly doesnt.

And the thing is, that GT4 isnt the best looking car game out at all.
Yet your all so content to hold onto the one title that has any hope of looking good, to the point where its blinding you from the truth.
And theres a word for that...

Why dont you explain why the PS2 cant render things outside of a car game with any degree of graphical prowess?
Or are you all gonna keep side-stepping it and claiming how good GT4 looks?

I'm not trying to say the PS2 is more powerful than any of the last gen consoles, but some of the visuals they're getting out of it now are impressive, despite not being better than their direct counterpart on the XBOX.

But thats the thing though.

Read what ive put rarther than what you think ive put.

Its a well done port, done by a development team that has tryed to get the best they can out of the console.
So keep saying its a poor comparison because its a port will quickly lose you all credability.
And its better to compare two common games rarther than two different ones graphically because its easyier to see the differences and compare.

Hhmmm where in 'but rendering organic objects, with more geometry than a car and the occasional object off track' and 'Making a game with organic objects in it is' does it mention Resi Evil 4, in fact i am sure you are talking about racing game foliage, so read what you have read rather than what you meant to say

Citation required please! i do believe i said it was better looking than PGR2 and Forza, which i stand by, i also said most people though GT4 running in 1080i mode looked better than PGR3. I said it was standing up well to PGR3! so as you say 'read what i said not what you thought i said!'

err, because it's about 5 years old? Burnout Revenge, Metal Gear Solid 2 & 3, GT4, PES5, Socom 1/2 etc. all look good, but as I've said the XBOX equivalents are generally better graphically.

My issue was you saying the very best PS2 games look worse than substandard XBOX/GC games, whereas IMO, they don't.

I'm not the one comparing GT4 to PGR3 as I've never played GT4 @1080i nor PGR3.

What a load of rubbish. I agree that the Xbox is very popular here, but most of the owners of an xbox on here also have a PS2.
If you want to talk forum biasness or popularity, try looking at anything Nintendo.

Well i have to disagree with you, i mean when the 360 came out there was even a thread called 'dont slate the xbox 360' whereas sony bashing is rife on here. all you need to do is look through this thread, you will see 3 people with a balanced approach 2 things, who like Sony and the PS brand and people who slate them. There was even people calling for folk to get banned at the slight bit of dissent against the xbox 360, there was even a linch mob for Dirty Dog, wasnt a torch or pitchfork to be found in ocuk

Thats because this is a Sony thread. In a Sony thread people talk about Sony. Because of that, critisism about Sony will be more obvious.
I dont know about what you mean with DD, but that doesnt involve me and im not concerned with that in the slightest. Console biasness isnt really relative to this discussion at all.

Maybe your plan, like so many people ive come across on here like you, is that once ideas have been exhausted your trying to confuse the issues as so it appears that you have saved face?

i own a ps2, gamecube and xbox, which i think are great consoles but in my opinion ive had the most fun with the ps2 even though i think its got the worst graphics out the 3 in general. Im not saying its bad cause it aint its got the best games in my opinion and thats why im gonna go for ps3.The End

be interesting to see how well the ps3 sells after the initial early adopters who will buy anything that Sony make regardless of price, even more when it has the Playstation logo on it, only then can we see how well its does at the higher price, don't personally think parents will be buying the PS3 for their kids if all they are doing is hooking it upto their portable TV in their bedroom -even more so if costing them £425!, but they may be tempted more by the Wii or probably by then a sub £200 xbox360

i had xbox for years, thinking that it was 'superior graphically' to the ps2...having just for the first time owned a ps2, i was wrong.

gt4, god of war, shadow, devil may cry, a mean omg wtf was a thinkin?

360 games completed = call of duty, pgr3, condemned, tomb raider etc...none of these have even come close to the perfection of gameplay of the ps2...

and when i said gt4 looks better than pgr3, well i meant obviously not technically, but hey, i stand by cartoony for pgr3, put it another way, try both games by actually playing them at 1080i (not in game photos), and tell me which game looks better...

my point is..when playing pgr3 in - game, compared to gt4 in game at hi-res, there's only one winner...
and the old missage of gameplay...well its no comparison again..a mean pgr3 doesn't even have a lap timer ffs!
and thats not fanboyism, its open minded from a person who owns or who has owned all these consoles
my 360 sits there in all its glory, sadly its never been switched on for 2 months...though i still think it will be fantastic very soon, but as things stand, its ps2 for me all the way...gameplay of the highest order

You are all making presumptions that the coders have not made any sloppy ports and that all their programming has been top notch. Do you know for a fact that a game first done on say the GC was done by the same team for ps2? no, was the latter rushed to get it out on time? you dont know. Its been said here in the thread already that the ps2 was hard to code for so was the hardware really that bad or didnt they code it right or good enough? Just think about things a bit more deeply before gobbing off a load of horse poo please. And for the record i have sony/ms and ninty in my house so no fanboy crap.

I own both GT4 and PGR3 and enjoy both but Gothams graphics beat GT4s in EVERY way no question

Its really funny to see all these lame sony brown nosers still thinking the PS2 is where its at yawn its 2006 not 2000

Sure the PS2 was good and has some great games but its days are over and to think otherwise is foolish

The 360 is in a different league then the PS2 in fact the first xbox shames the PS2

I think a lot of sony fanboys hate the fact that mirosoft have released 2 great consoles since sony launched the PS2 and no matter what you say the PS2 is showing its age 1080i or not.

Back to the topic i am really dissapointed with the PS3 press briefing at E3 last week i saw no games that intrested me and nothing that was any better then my 360 is pumping out now
All sony have done with the PS3 is copy the best bits from the 360 (live) and Wii (motion pads) but not do either as well
