PS3 Price Drop

If it isn't on the list that means it doesn't work at all.

Burnout Dominator isn't on the list, but works fine apart from the brief odd flash on the grpahics here and there, but nothing major to ruin the game, so your statement isn't 100% correct

Not really. Not when there's currently so few decent titles available for said console.

I've been playing quite a bit of GT4 on mine tbh.

For me price is just one of the reasons im put off the PS3, yes I own a 360 and thats nothing to do with my gripes, im not a fanboy :D

I have no interest in a lot of the features of the PS3, I want a games console for playing games.. end of.

I dont like the way we got shafted on the BC, we dont have the choice of the 20GB pack in the UK either.

I think the PS3 will have some corking games out for it in the future as will the 360 and the Wii, but at the moment if I was going to get another console I would go for the Wii over the ps3. It has more games that interest me right now.

In 6 months time sony may have released an improved controller, more games and made a significant reduction in the cost. Then it may be worth looking at again but IMOH right now...

...the PS3 just isent worth the money they are asking for it :(

And what games exactly are there to play on the PS3 right now? Not many and half of them blow. Where as on PS2 there has just recently been released GTA:VCS, FF XII and God of War 2. Sony said that PS3 was going to be 100% backwards compatible from launch and they didnt deliver what they said they were going to. All to save themselves some pennies while not lowering the price.

It's becoming the norm for sony not to deliver what they promise. Aren't there repercussions for businesses constantly doing this?

Well I wasn't going to order one til the price dropped and I have just found out that my £360 package including R:FoM will be dispatched later today.

Same here, I've been told it'll be with me by the 18th at the very latest but I'm hoping for tuesday!

I didn't really have any problems paying the price I did for the PS3, after owning a 360 for over a year I'm in a decent position to compare the two.

I was going to use my 360 for DVD use, HD-DVD in fact so after buying the 360 I then purchased the HD-Drive at Christmas, in theory both cost me £430.
The PS3 costs the same as this and I don't need to buy the add on as it already has the HD drive. This is how I look at things anyway, people don't want to pay the price right now as the games are not the best but its a common thing for consoles to have poor release day games, 360 included.

Depends on what you'll use the console for if your not bothered about films then I wouldn't expect people to pay the price right now for the PS, but I couldn't really go wrong.

the ps3 is not region coded though, as in games work fine worldwide, imports are fine etc, etc. so you can buy one in japan and buy games here and not have any issues, not sure bout the 360 but don't think thats true.

but the problem is that you can get a ps3 for £250 from japan and £300 from the states for something which physically has more hardware and actually costs more to produce. why on earth is the uk paying that much more? import taxes and stuff can cost more to different regions of the world but not this much more. it doesn't cost almost what 70% more to import them or deliver them to the uk/europe than japan or anywhere else. in general people talk about rip off britain, when you look at cpu/mem costs in the states , do a direct conversion and then add 17.5% tax most computer parts prices aren't actually that far off one you get past the initial 2 week "no one has stock" price hikes. people are idiots, no one should have bought a PS3 at all, people should have looked at the price and said some rude words to sony, left every one on the shelf until they gave us prices in line with the rest of the world. because PS3 sales aren't anywhere near what Sony need, because of low game sales because of those low console sales their profits aren't what were forecast so they decided to simply massively increase the unit price because we would just pay for it? later release date, reduced functionality, cheaper to produce box but we pay 70% more for it.

Don't think I'm an idiot nor are a lot of people who have bought one, like I said above the price seems fair to me, the only thing that isn't gravy is the price difference to US/Japan etc.

In theory Sony should have split the console up, like the 360, sold the console without WI-FI and Blue-Ray and had them seperate devices so customers could make their own mind up if they wanted them.

A lot of people can't afford to fork out £400 for a console, especially kids who the consoles are aimed at, Sony should have followed in the footsteps of MS on that front.

BUT from my point of view if Sony had done this I would have forked out extra for the Blue-Ray drive, the WI-FI connection and paid the £400 EXACTLY like I did for the 360.

This then becomes a problem for developers, Hoe could they use Blu Ray for games when not everyone has the drive? MS have a similar situation with the Hard Drive, developers won't use it because a large section of the user base doesn't own one.

Well thats something for them to resolve! IMO people who are doubting the price really need to add up what the PS offers compared to the rest of the market.

well, that's the point really, it isn't something for them to resolve for PS3 because Sony decided to avoid the problem.

For the 360 it won't become an issue as such, they just won't utilise the hard drive full stop.
