I don't think I've ever got the cable I needed with consoles I buy, 360 I needed the VGA cable, PS3 the HDMI cable and PS2 i needed the 'uprated' scart cable, cant remember the original Xbox but no doubt I had to buy another one!

I'm finding PS3's + 1 game for 350inc vat but they are the 20gb versions, whats the main difference between the two apart from the obivious difference in hardrive size ?

That must be the US version I think?

I'd pay the extra £50 for a PAL and 40gb more HDD tbh.

When games are region free it doesn't matter anyway.

PS1 and 2 games aren't iirc? So there isn't that much to gain, I'd rather pay more with the knowledge than if it goes wrong, I can walk into the shop where I bought it rather than ship it overeas.

What I was getting at when saying PAL, also the extra GB space is well worth it.

Most ps1 and ps2 games don't work anyway, the ones that do aren't the best sellers either.

True, I just wouldn't want the hassle of shipping if it broke and I would lose all backwards compatability never mind half a shoddy half attempt.

I'm waiting for the 20GB to be released here, I'll never use the extra 40gb of space when I can just use my htpc which plays any video format not just h.264. I'd never use wifi for gaming and have no use for memory card readers.

What makes you think it'll ever be released here. Your best bet might be a purchase in europe somewhere but I think the whole of europe is only receiving this one machine, Im not sure what the thinking behind it is.

European gamer demographic is richer or older or costs of sale are higher here for sony maybe due to EU import taxes/quotas

I've got a feeling they will release it here eventually. I noticed that the specs listed in the manual bundled with a UK machine mentions the 60GB and 20GB models. Surely if they had no plans to bring it to any English-speaking countries other than the US they wouldn't mention it at all?

Cheaper to make one manual for everywhere than make a separate one for Europe ;).

If you wanted a 120Gb+ harddrive wouldn't people be better off waiting for the 20Gb one then buying a harddrive and fitting it them selves? I hear you can upgrade it with PC hardrives if it's a certain speed to prevent over heating.

Yes you can use standard 2.5" sata hdds. 7200rpm should be fine, the heat output is only slightly more than 5400rpm.

I thought the 7200rpm HDD would run slower than the 5400rpm counterpart?

Thought I heard that somewhere...
